Is there a phone like this that runs android?
A mate is looking for a phone for his grandparent. He would like to be able to install WhatsApp, Google Meet for VoIP calls mainly but he wants the phone to be as basic as possible for granpa.
You can just buy an Android phone and install a simple launcher on it. Samsung phones have a Simple Mode that makes it easy for elderlies to navigate. You get enlarged icons on the homescreen, a magnifier shortcut and quick shortcuts to frequently used contacts.

Candybar T9 android phones do exist, for e.g Xiaomi Qin F21 Pro, however they are usually made for CN market and may not have the LTE network bands required for use in Oz
These phones also have smaller screens which are actually harder to navigate than a phone that is all-screen and has no physical keypad. Typing out messages on a keypad is also very slow and cumbersome.
