What if I'm ugly though. I don't want people to see me too clearly lol
Pu a little Vaseline on the lens.
Would this be better than my old Logitech C510?
It is 1080p vs 720p, so yes going to be a step up based on that alone
OK thanks, talked me into it. :)
Resolution alone doesn't mean it will be a better picture, particularly in less than ideal lighting.
Thanks OP. Going to see if I can use this connected via my monitor's USB-A port, with a MacBook connected to the monitor via USB-C. If not will return.
This is my exact setup. It's works brilliantly.
This or the Ugreen 2k webcam for $20 more?
maybe try this 2k for $11 less ;)
https://www.kmart.com.au/product/web-camera-2k-with-ring-lig…This works good, got it for my partner when the creative one died
Thanks, waiting for delivery. Otherwise easy returns at Kmart.
Note that the Kmart one is a very wide 120 degrees so you'll be showing your messy room ;)
who has the real background on these days!
@sun sunny: Good point! I just realised that too. Has anyone tried the Kmart one personally and can comment on the image quality?
@mememe123: It's fine for $20. I wouldn't want to spend much more for it though.. See my post below.
who has the real background on these days!
I use a picture of someone else's messy room.
I got the kmart one for if I'm in a pinch. It's OK; bad in low light and pretty noisy, but definitely usable. And only 30fps at higher resolutions.
I found running it through Webcamoid cleaned the image up considerably (default without filters) and the virtual output cropped the image to a more normal aspect ratio (and fov?). I also chose 720p for 60fps because nobody cares about seeing the food stuck between my teeth..
Also the ring light is pretty dull. It still makes a difference, especially in low light, but low light is when this cam is at it's worst.
@grb: Thanks. It's to replace the old Macbook Pro 2011 720p webcam. How's the audio?
@mememe123: Sorry I can't help much with the audio. It works. Though I doubt it would be anything better than "passable".
I did one test with the cam's mic I was told they "could hear me fine" but that was from people with limited frame of reference.
@grb: Helpful to know, thanks. One final question! How does the image compare to the first video on the Ugreen page review https://www.amazon.com.au/UGREEN-Microphone-85%C2%B0View-Str…
@mememe123: The Ugreen ones look better better. Way better in low light, whereas kmart cam kind of faceplants without perfect light.
@grb: Ok I'll wait for a better price on the Ugreen. Thanks for all your help!
@mememe123: Here's a pic.
@grb: Not too bad. I'm also looking at the Airhug for $25. https://www.amazon.com.au/Canceling-Microphones-71%C2%B0Wide…
Very very good bang for your buck with these cameras, I've got one as my office webcam. They've been on sale for $34.95 a couple of times, $29.99 is excellent value.
Can anyone recommend one with Windows Hello facial unlock?
USBA-USBA cable?
Yes that’s what it showing in image 4
Decent camera for the price for sure. Bought one a year or 2 ago at $50ish? Use it daily for work calls. Only downside is the lighting struggles a bit with sun glare but it ain't too bad.
should be used to office stuff, and maybe starter streams for people on twitch and onlyf…. maybe not that one lol.
Deal expired? Showing $47 now
Price went up.. was that a lightning deal?
This camera sucks 100 years ago and still does. would't buy this for $10
Bought one. Sold it off 2 hours later.
Little known fact, you can connect your Android phone to your laptop and use it as a webcam. No drivers or apps needed. Just click on the USB pop-up on your phone and select 'Webcam'.
You're misleading people. That is only currently possible via pixel devices (6 up) with uvc support.
I stand corrected! I have a Pixel.
There are many apps that enable this on other Androids, though.
Can also do this with iPhone / MacBook. However, I do find that in 90% of my conferences, I want to be able to use my phone discreetly / keep an eye out for calls, so it's annoying to use it as a camera most of the time.
You also need a Mac for that to work.
Done it before and the phone got really hot

Really good camera for the price. Microphone is decent too (of course not as good as standalone)
