FYI bought this same watch a few weeks back from this same seller only to find out that the serial number on the back had been completely engraved over with some other dodgy looking number. So returned it but still waiting for the refund.

I wonder how many of mine are like this.. 😅

Best ordering from Amazon AU (sold and shipped for casios), but 30 day returns at least.

I just ordered the new model, GBM-2100-1AER a week ago for $307 and would recommend spending a bit more. They have finally improved the much loved half-metal G to create the perfect G-shock.
    https://www.tictacarea.com/en/casio-g-shock-watches/casio-g-…

    Benefits include:
    - Tough solar
    - Bluetooth (time sync and ease of setting up watch)
    - Positive display
    - more legible colour scheme.

Tictacarea is legit and ships from the Netherlands (I ordered an A1000 not long ago and was 2 weeks door to door).
Anyway just my 2c but easily worth the extra $40!

    ps. Also available in:
    Blue for $320
    and Green, $320

    • thanks for the tip, I had no idea these were released! looks like a worthwhile upgrade to my trusted original GA2100. Just have to wait for prices to come down, black friday maybe?

Yeah well worth it I reckon.

Dunno, I think it's fair and tictacarea Mau not care about that but you certainly could wait and see.

I like the Green colour, looks more solid than the blue colour. Both are not solar, but quartz movement. Should be cheaper than the black one …

      • Looks like they are solar to me?

        • Read the Key features from the link above for blue and green colour:
          "Swiss Movement with Quartz Mechanism"

"Reliable Quartz movement with a 36-month battery life"

If anyone has any issues feel free to post them. I get mine tomorrow, I'll be checking the serial and if it's not authentic I'll be reporting them and posting here.

Save the stress and 91% — have a SKMEI !

    (It's awesome)

    • I'd rather not wear a watch.

      • When a Casio 5611 manual confirms all functions for $24, I'm not complaining.
Chinese cars are a different story.

        • I'm not sure what you're saying. Are you saying that because it has the functions you're happy to buy it?

          • @iLikeBargainz: Not only all the functions, I prefer the case and integrated steel bracelet. Resin straps are the worst. They like to shear with little warning.
Plus it's a genuine SKMEI. They're well regarded around here.

        • It's a bit pov getting knock-offs of watches that are quite obtainable for the everyday punter and this is where Casio shines.. however this is Ozbargain after all (not OzQuality).

It's a different story when a Rolex is 100x more than a Pagani homage.

          • @G-rig: I'm stating that in the face of questionable authenticity for sky-high prices, vendors know where potential killings are made. There are better, more reliable sources for authentic G-Shock watches.

Who would question the authenticity or value of a $20 watch? It has all the features of the $268 watch with none of the stress, or the fragile resin strap.

I have the SKMEI, so I'm speaking from experience. Buy Casio if your ego demands it.

            • @Speckled Jim: Just saying they aren't that expensive but as I first pointed out I wouldn't buy one of those basic ones now that the new ones are out with all the modern tech for slightly more (solar quartz, bluetooth).

Happy days (and cheap days)if you are happy with a fake Casio, but I won't bother with them.

  • Nice watch but, looking on google, price seems nothing special, some other shops are selling the GM2100's for a similar or lower price.

Sure they're the metal cased version like this one? The resin/resin 2100s (there are many colour combos) some were around $150 recently.

  • it appears to me that the watch is legitimate. But I have to admit, I am new to watches.

    I watched this video: https://youtu.be/PcNzYYrixmw?si=B-SAVIAdB1CfeZ0d

It seems that this watch is real. Can anyone give me resources to check the watch further? I cannot locate a website that allows me to check the serial number this particular watch.

    • Is the serial number part on the back of yours completely engraved over with another number engraved on top of it?

The quality of the engraving of the fake serial number on mine was a dead giveaway.

I'm thinking they're either grey imports or illegitimately sourced (stolen etc).

The one I purchased from Amazon AU directly came with an Oz warranty card with serial number and the engraved serial number on the back looked clean and legit.

      • Mine doesn't appear to have any impurities as such. So no, no strange engraving inconsistencies.

        • So yours doesn't look like this where the legit serial number should have been (the "321650" on the right).

          • +1

@dins: Mine definitely doesn't have that. That does certainly look dodgy..

        • I doubt it would be fake from Amazon but always good to check. It would be pretty obvious if it was.
