    “Cheap tv”

    • Need to get priorities right, I got $3k tv and $300 dishwasher 😉

Why doesnt OP do what the rest of us do?

Just Google 85" TV / dishwasher and check out all the deals.

      So simple

4k qled or similar tech (not uhd)

Maybe do some research yourself and google what 4k and uhd is. You clearly don't know what you want.

Wouldn’t you be better off spending more on the dishwasher and less on the TV?

    "cheap tv"…
    Budget $2,500 lol

    Don’t buy cheap dishwasher

Why not? I went from Bosch (made in Germany) to no name brand, GVA due to house move , wash the same and no issues. Previously I had Westinghouse, that one was sux.
Having said that, Bosch had a heavy door, less noise.

      • Cheap dishwashers are often fine, and a lot of people don’t care about specs of food being left behind. Just make sure to look at the running costs, some cheap ones will end up costing more than mid range ones in the long run.

  • The terms 4K and UHD are typically used interchangeably.

The only deals I’ve seen for a dishwasher in that price range is thr IKEA/Bosch one from a few weeks ago, not sure if any are still around.

Here is a range of 85” tv’s, the x85k is probably the best sub $2500 (but the x90l is significantly better at $2700).

Before dropping $2,500 on a TV, maybe do a little research on what the tech actually is.

UHD is simply the resolution, ultra high def is the same as 4K. Basically every TV sold these days is UHD.

QLED is basically an extra filter to improve colour in a regular LCD TV and it's questionable how much it improves anything and how much is marketing. You're more interested in the backlight.

That said, go spend $1500-2k on a dishwasher and $1k-1500 on a TV. Upgrading a TV is easy. Replacing a broken dishwasher sucks.

Well, they can display true UHD content if you're watching a 4K BluRay, for example.

Streaming/TV isn't anywhere near the quality of a 4K BluRay

  • 4k….. not uhd

    Best of luck.

Have you allocated any monies to a sound system for the TV?

    • good point … although it's possible OP may be doing things in stages
And what about lounge/sofa while we're at.

I can remember when I bought my first home - I actually had the TV up & running prior to even buying a comfy lounge.
And for first few weeks - I was sitting on the floor just to watch TV.

IMO - should be budgeting between 2-3 the amount for the audio setup, compared to cost of TV.
      Should certainly factor it in.

      Lastly OP - 85inch … bigger isn't always better … depends on viewing distance/etc.
75inch (or even 65inch) can suit many lounge spaces / TV rooms.

  • If you're an OzBargainer, don't forget you'll need at least a couple of thousand for a coffee making machine. But I guess you got your priorities right, and budgeted enough for that first, right?

  • Why not just wash dishes by hand until you can afford something decent? Last thing you want is a cheap dishwasher that breaks down, then having it pulled out, scratching the floor, mdf, not to mention water leaking.

Your definition of cheap TV and mine are at complete opposites.

I personally spend a little more on the dishwasher if i actually wanted one and a lot less on the TV.

Ive never owned a Dishwasher and my most expensive tv was/is $900.

I’ve just pulled out an old Bosch integrated dishwasher and popped in freestanding. It still worked - probably 12 years plus old (was in house when i bought it) but the rack positions meant not being able to put the big new style dinner plates in as blocked the water spinning washer.

The hardest part was difficulty to remove the wooden bit matching kitchen color at the top . It was difficult !
I replaced it with an omega dishwasher that I picked up on fb marketplace for $50.

I’m delighted. Plates fit . It washes dishes just as well. Plus r- upgrade for me of digital display with having a delay start and shows the time of the cycle.

The hardest bit of installation of that was getting the power cord and hoses through the small round hole to the power point/drain/water inlet under sink.

It’s stainless steel and looks new.
Not sure if new house has the plumbing in place for dishwasher but maybe save spending the money for new until a sale ? Research lots for what you want

    • noise
    • Power consumption
    • basic versus expensive
    • ask on your local community fb pages ! Regularly there are plumbers who’ll tell you what they see out there

Delay option for using after 10pm with TOU electricity tariff is great for me. Housemates would put on during peak hrs after dinner and now we can set timer to do when in bed.

For me I’d spend more money on quality washing machine than dishwasher! Not that that is your query! Most dishwashers wash dishes . Pick up a second hand one and see what you like/don’t like.

    • big new style dinner plates

So that's why people are bigger these days. Because even dinner plates are bigger.

  • Don't buy a cheap dishwasher - handwash and save for a decent one - they do come on sale at times - I did this and am very happy with my Miele. Bosch are also a decent dishwasher.
