[Updated] Steam Sales & Flash Deals: $7.49ea CS: GO, The Witcher 2 and More

590

Update#1: New flash deals to avoid multiple posts as a member pointed out.
Update#2: Flash deals are gone now. Only the few titles below are still available but not for long. Grab them before they're gone.

Steam Autumn Sales:

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (50% off) - $7.49 / Counter-Strike Complete (67% off) - $9.99
Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 3 (50% off) - $49.99
The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition (75% off) - $7.49
Legend of Grimrock (75% off) - $3.74
Alan Wake Franchise (75% off) - $9.99
Castle Crashers (67% off) - $4.99

[Ended] Flash Deals:

GTA IV: Complete Edition includes Episodes from Liberty City (75% off) - $7.49
Basically the same as the post from here but the deal is on again today. Not as sweet as the amazon deal here (with GTA San Andreas + L.A Noire for just another $7+) but if you already had the other games, then this could be for you.

FIX: wizzfizz has pointed out the mistake in my post where the amazon deal above actually includes the episodes from the liberty city as well. Sorry for the mistake. Anyway, the steam deal has expired, if you've missed out the deal, you can go for the amazon deal above.

Tropico 4: Steam Special Edition (80% off) - $7.99
Crusader Kings II Collection (75% off) - $12.49
The Binding of Isaac (75% off) - $1.24
Red Faction Collection (75% off) - $14.99
Super Street Fighter® IV Arcade Edition (75% off) - $9.99
Just Cause 2 (75% off) - $4.99
Bastion (75% off) - $3.74
The Testament of Sherlock Holmes (50% off) - $19.99

Plus vote for the informative and well laid out post.

    • wow. thanks :D

    Bought CS:GO, thanks

  • seems like they may merge with winter (on in a couple of weeks)/ put this sale to the end of the month, it was supposed to finish today Nov 21-27th, not that i'm complaining just seems wierd

    • +1

winter sales will be somewhere (around 1 week) before christmas if im not mistaken :)

      • It's usually 4-5 days before xmas day then continues for 2 weeks.

    • +1

It isn't the 27th in the US yet.

My goodness, non-stop sales from all these digital download games, who the hell on earth will buy retail copies from game shop anymore? Shops should also do crazy cheap deals to price match digital version!

    • +1

      because download quota :(

(before anyone says anything, I can only really get ADSL2+ through Telstra connection, and any increase in quota on my grandfathered-plan ADSL1 connection would not be worth the rediculous price increase)

      • +4

Don't worry about your download quota, if you're getting it from an unmetered source (GameArena in your case) it won't count towards your download quota.

Have a look at Steam Limiter - http://code.google.com/p/steam-limiter/

    • I pity the console people… they really are missing out something awful.

  • +1

The Amazon deal does include Episodes from Liberty City. The description says it's just a download but I got a code which worked on Steam!

    • I just copied and pasted details from site as it was late when I posted but I fixed it now so its clear its included too.

    • ahh sorry, my bad. fixed it already.

  • I have a spare Dead Space 2 in my inventory, anyone willing to trade me Witcher 2 for it?

  • +1

    Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 3 (50% off) - $49.99

    MW3 is normally $100?

    • I saw it in-store "on special" for $69… :S

      • Games in the US retail for $60, so for a one year old game to be selling for $100 on the Steam store sounds a bit off. I'm hoping it was a typo.

  • Everyone should but Witcher 2.

    • Since you must have the game, I have a question for you.

I only have to buy Enhanced edition for $7.49 if I also want the director? If it's an international copy, it would has included Director cut version?

That's my understanding from reading this:
      http://witcher.wikia.com/wiki/The_Witcher:_Enhanced_Edition_…

      • Well the director's cut is only for the first game which is only $2.50 on Steam and is clearly labeled as Enhanced Edition Director's Cut so your set there. :) The second game only has an enhanced edition which was made available after the game's release to add additional contents.

  • Darn it! Just realised that the Sherlock Holmes Collection is on 75% sale for $8.74.

And I bought it last year for $17.49 and still haven't played it yet….. :(

    Witcher 2 is worth it!

  • know i'll probably get a few negs and people whinging - if it where on that thread i would have missed it… however, how is this not a dupe of this:?????

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/85385

should we post a new thread every or every five hours every time there is a new flash sale? should we do that for every site?

I agree, this is usually much more organised. The fact that the original post was extremely lacking (didn't have any games actually included in the description, hence would not have been worthy of being a deal in any other circumstances) and the busy period of Black Friday / Cyber Mondey, have caused things to get a little out of control. The same thing has been happening with the Amazon deals, unfortunately.

I'll give some credit to the OP of this deal, however, for updating it with all the flash sales, though. I know it's the proper thing to do, but he could've easily followed the trend and posted multiple times, as others have been doing.

Hopefully the mods will better more prepared and control this next time 'round, though it's understandable that there is quite a lot of content to moderate. Hopefully this doesn't become a trend with Steam (and simmilar) sales.

im aware of multiple posts of similar steam deals as well. but noone's updating them and the post is being pushed to the back due to the other new deals (of course i do understand this is not an excuse to post a same/similar deal again). but i guess it might be good for people who dont explore pages that far or new members to notice these deals if i created another post and keep the contents updated here. sorry if this actually annoyed or caused any inconvenience :/

Been waiting since the sale last week (When it's 50% off)for the price of the Witcher II to come down. :D
Now I'm happy as a duck with water.
Only need to buy and build a PC to play the game!

  • Anyone played the Alan Wake series? Looks interesting.

I played through the first game and its DLC, but not American Nightmare.

Has a good setting, starts off pretty great. But its gameplay outlasts its welcome very quick. It gets old and tiring after you've done a few chapters of it. It's repetitive and I found myself wishing it was shorter. The first chapter did not feel repetitive at all, but it was novel at that time. Do it 8 times and you won't want to touch the game again.

Also, for the PC version, they renamed the difficulty settings from the Xbox 360 version.

Hard on 360 = Normal on PC
Normal on 360 = Easy on PC.
(There was no Easy difficulty on 360)

I made the mistake of playing on Normal on PC, which got frustrating for me. If you're someone who regularly plays on Normal, set it to Easy.

I presume the reason they did this is because it should be easier on mouse and keyboard than on gamepad, but I found I needed to use the gamepad anyway, because mouse sensitivity is unplayable on PC. If you turn it down to 0, it scrolls too slow, but if you set it to 1 (out of 20), it's too fast. And everything above 1 is even more unplayable. There needs to be a 0.5.

The storyline starts off very intriguing. It has a lot of mystery, you'll want to know what's actually going on. But when the answers start coming in, I was really disappointed with the answers.

Throughout the whole game, you'll be looking at the same environments (the woods at night), facing the same enemies, and doing exactly the same thing. There are these parts where objects come flying at you, and you gotta shine your flashlight on them for a few seconds to get rid of them. These segments are incredibly annoying.

The chapters are also really long some times. They could have broken them up into smaller chapters but have more of them. You really spend too long getting from place to place.

If you have OCD when it comes to collectables, this game will drive you up the wall. There are tons and tons of collectibles of several types. And aside from manuscript pages they get you absolutely nothing (other than achievements if that's your thing). The manuscript is the story you're in. Find a page, and you get to listen to a page summarizing your experience. However, if you miss a few (and you will unless you're using a guide), well, you're going to stop bothering listening to them, because it's like missing an episode of a TV show.

I would say bad execution marred what had the potential to be a really great game. If I had to attach a score to the game, it would be somewhere in the range of 7.8-8.0 out of 10. Could have been much better.

Get it if you like horror, mystery, and psychological thrillers. I happen to like those things. I just wasn't too fond of the gameplay. It's still worth experiencing though.

I am not going to bother with American Nightmare, which I heard was not great and even more repetitive.

Also, to reiterate, if you don't have an Xbox 360 controller, I don't think this game is playable. The mouse sensitivity is screwed. On a scale from 0 to 20 on the sensitivity bar, 1 (!) is a little bit too fast. I found myself wanting it set to 0.5 out of 20. Who were the other 19 notches made for?

Appreciate the time taken for this really great review.

        • Did you end up getting the game?

I re-read my review and it sounded a lot more negative than I actually found it. It's a good "experience", and I recommend it. It was just a lot easier to point out the things I disliked about it than the things I liked. There isn't much to say other than, the setting and mood are really good, and the plot is intriguing (it is what will drive you to keep playing).

If you strip away the story and cutscenes, leaving only the gameplay though, I wouldn't want to play it. It's not bad, it just didn't grab me.

  • got cs go for $7.44
