Want one. But white colour can get dirty easily as checked-in luggage ?
Should this luggage be protected by vinyl wrap ?

    Isn’t 81cm luggage oversized?

    • +9

When was the last time you heard that its too big?

      • +8

my wife tells me every day
        Boom Chicka wah wah

        also wife
        points at my stomach

    • +1

Yes, it is well over most airline limits.

    • i think thats the normal big luggage which is ok for overseas trip although oddly enough for australia domestic you are only allowed medium size?
      https://www.qantas.com/au/en/travel-info/baggage/checked-bag…

plus they wouldn't be selling the 81cm luggage if you couldn't use it for trips overseas right

  • +1

excellent prices on the hifi, nice find

  • Has anyone used Hifi spinner 55cm before? Comparing to American Tourister ?

  • Whats the biggest size / lightest option for carry on?

    Guessing 81cm too big?

    • +1

the hifi 55cm would be ideal if youre set on a hardshell for carry-on. very light. 81cm is often too big for even checked

      • I was thinking of buying the 55cm for carry on, but is it slightly too big? It's 55x40x20cm, while Qantas lists their limit as 56x36x23, or does it not matter that much? Because in my browsing, most small luggages I see are slightly larger than this limit.

        • Hard case bags hard to 'squash down' if your flight is one where they force everyone to put their checked luggage into the 'sizer'. It's why I use soft-sided luggage for carry on, so it can 'squish' a little.

        • +1

I don't think it matters that much especially if it's Qantas. I haven't had my carry-on measured on my last couple of trips with Qantas (knock on wood). Probably a different case with budget airlines.

          Last carry-on I used is measured at 55 x 38.5 x 21.5 and it went through fine.

    • +1

From Qantas, but a generally good guide is 56cm long x 36cm wide x 23cm deep

Through fortnightly travel I've never been asked to check size, but the scales are a constant check. That goes for domestic and international (though ironically international travel seems to be less stringent on weight).

I find that weight is a bigger issue these days than size. Reason being that people know the size limitations, and easily go over on weight.

  • Thanks. Bought a couple. Great price!

Bought the American Tourister Curio Book Opening 75cm last year for our Japan trip for about 261. Highly recommend it, especially for frequent Japan travellers, as it saves so much space just opening from the front. Very well made as it’s Samsonite anyways. It’s also expandable. I thought that was huge so 81 will be massive.

It’s on sale at The Iconic. https://www.theiconic.com.au/curio-2-spinner-75cm-exp-tsa-bo…

    • This is the biggest of 3 sizes btw. Similar pricing on bagstogo and Pera Luggage. Maybe you can stack app discount, yello rewards, or Cashback on the iconic I thought.

  • Coupon has just been killed. Extra 40% off still working though

Good timing. Got an overseas trip later this year and needed some larger checked suitcases for the kids clothes (last trip their 65cm bags were chockas), so ordered a couple of the 75cm Hi-Fi. 81cm too big for most airlines and wasn't prepared to chance it. Dang kids getting older and their clothes getting bigger.

  • No soft luggage :(

  • +1

    thanks, bought a 75cm HiFi

    • Can I ask what price you got the 75cm HiFi for?

      • $163

        • I got it for $170. How did you get the extra $7?

Bought a 75cm hifi in black. Was gonna buy a used one but this is better with warranty i guess.

  • 81cm fine for booking for international flights?

    • +2

Seriously, I never seen any staff measuring luggage during check ins. Never, but would not be suprised with Jetstar, they weigh even your wallet 😅😅

Unless you bring this as your hand carry 😅😅

    • +1

Theoretically limited to linear 158cm (add height, width and depth) but I've had no problems with an 83cm (170cm linear).

As long as you don't take the piss, most airlines should be fine.

      • +2

The issue with those larger suitcases is that you will go over the weight limit long before the suitcase is full.

  • +1

It seems not good review even on Samsonite web site: one star.

  • Has anyone got an order confirmation email from Samsonite after placing an order tonight ?
I paid via Apple Pay. The funds haven’t been deducted yet and there’s no order confirmation email either.

    • +1

I received e-mail then post this deal. Might be in your junk mail.

      • Thanks. Nothing in junk either. I signed out as a guest and don’t have a profile to check the order either :s

  • They fixed it

    • fixed what?

      • It’s gone lol.

        • some still there

          • @dandandan: The extra 40% off is working no more.

            • @Nathw: It is, 40%, then 30%, then 10% off as well, try lite shock sport.

              • @dandandan: It was working. I ordered one. But no longer there

                • @Schrodinger: yes, think it's gone now, I ordered 4. Hi-Fi changed when I was signing up however was abe to get another model, that was 40% off, then 30% off and the 10% worked as well.

                  • @dandandan: It definitely worked till about 10:40pm. I should have ordered both Lite-Shock 81 and 55 in one go.
Then again I saw reviews that check in ones tend to crack.

                    • @Schrodinger: Yes, got my last order confirmation email at 10.47pm so worked until at least then on a few more models. I got my delivery emails this morning. Thanks OP

                    • @Schrodinger: Wow how much would the 81cm lite-shock would have ended up being? $363? Bargain.

                      • @afayd: I only got the 55cm one for $236. Pretty good price. Should have gotten both. Might buy the 81cm off amazon for 492. Wondering if it'd dip lower within the next year..

        • Deal is back

    • Damn they fixed it while I was about it make the second order

  • +1

Well let’s hope they won’t cancel the orders lol

    • Seems like they didn't! Kudos for that!

  • -1

i wish they had the same luggages like what they also sell in usa too. i just bought a carry on and the large one from over there $210 AUD but have to get it from a friend thats coming from usa to aussie later this year gosh

Just got a delivery email (pending tracking details soon) from Samsonite. Looks like they're honouring the extra discounts.

    • +1

      Same. Thanks OP

    • Same! If I knew it's a pricing error, I'd have bought sooner..

      • Deal is back

        • +1

They've fixed the issue of 30% stacking on top of 40%.. Now it's just either 30% off or 40% off (and the extra 10% off coupon)

          • @Schrodinger: not sure what you mean but the same discount price as before still there

            • @ggfatty: Yes they had a pricing issue when the deal was originally up where we were able to stack 40%+30%+10% (so effectively about 62% off).

    • Yep same here for my 2x HiFi 75cm.

  • +3

Seems to be available again for a few selected products. I got the 55cm Black Hi-Fi Spinner ($121.5) and the Nuon 81cm Expandable ($216.76) for a very decent price.

    • the nuon is no longer showing $216 as price after adding to cart.

  • HI-FI SPINNER 75 CM EXP BLACK $315 to $170.1 sold out

  • -3

this seams expensive to me. costco has 3 piece sets cheaper than or equal to 1 of these pieces.

2.6 stars overall from 11 reviews. it does have a 10 year warranty, but costco has a lifetime warranty. would costco be better?

    • Yeah a fairly usable luggage should be around $50 and under. The extra cost might have other benefits? I know the lighter weight could cost more for the convenience and the save on weight allowance.

  • -2

looks like it still zips up in the middle.

watched a video recently luggage that zips up at the top, so you can easily fit everything instead of trying to put your items half and half and closing it.

and with these new bags might as well get one that has a USB-C hub (with pass cable pass through to inside so just plug any powerbank and put it inside the bag) so you can plug your phone easily near where the handle extends. also handy stuff like short collapsible metal hooks to hang stuff or hold your phone in landscape while waiting and a collapsible car style cup holder for your coffee.

I'm not a traveller but if I was going to go on a trip I would get one of these newer design luggage.

    • ok so is there a benefit I am missing from having the clamshell design with zip down the middle? is it more resistant to bursting open or something??

two users seem to disagree with me but have not commented the reason why the zipper down the middle design is better.

this is the design I am talking about by the way.
way more convenient no? the hard shell lid is also on inside straps so it stays up by itself when open.

is it going to be the cheapest thing out there? probably not being a newer design with many more features. but Samsonite is now overpriced and poor quality anyway. (see the reviews)

unless you are like the hulk and like lifting up half your luggage weight every time you open your luggage.. I don't see how the zipper down the middle is good..

the nuon is no longer showing $216 as price after adding to cart.

    Thanks OP!
Bought the OC2LITE SUITCASE 75CM EXPANDABLE-S for $251.10 excluding the cashback.

    • +1

The lighter hi-fi 75cm is back at $170.10, 81cm $183.06, in the black colour for both.

  • How do we determine which collections are of good quality?

I've just ordered Toiis-C Trunk because it won a Red Dot Award in 2020. However, I noticed that it only comes with a 3-year warranty.

    https://www.samsonite.com.au/toiis-c/toiis-c-trunk/ss-145861…

Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you!
