ubank Account Type Names Swaped from Old ubank to New ubank (Usaver Not Earning Interest)

Hi all,

Anyone else have their old ubank accounts move to new ubank but have the account type names be the opposite of what they are ?

For me this happened:
Old Ubank Account was called a “Usaver” account this was the account that earned interest (since 2012).
Old account was created on to a new account and called “Savings” in the new app

Old Ubank Account was called a “Uspend” this was the account that did NOT earn interest.
Old account was created on to a new account and called “Usaver” in the new app

I used the bsb/acc of the Usaver to add funds then find that's the account that doesn't earn interest.

uBank say "we didn't change any names" they say I must have done it. yeah right, I haven't used the app since the transfer other than to find the bsb and account #, I must have been bored and wanted to make life more confusing by naming my accounts both with save in the name and call an account that doesn't earn interest the name of one that has for the last 12 years !

The transfer over was a nightmare so stopped using ubank but i thought what could go wrong account are already setup should be simple so gave them another go but how wrong was i !!

Wait till you find out how they treat the children of 90 year olds trying to open savings accounts for their parents with mismatched details!

    • yeah I can imagine, I never use my middle name but on the phone they ask for your "full legal name including middle names" so I gave it thinking they must have it if they are asking for it, they ask other questions then say at the end they cant ID you so need to end the call. No you need to do x to solve it just I am ending the call. Took me ages to work out they didn't have my middle name so that was the thing that didn't match. They are ass holes !

  • FYI I just got a message from them saying:

"Please allow us ample time to review this matter, as we have received numerous amounts of queries very much like your own."

Yeah didn't think I would be the only one

For those caught in your situation, if you would like to identify the type of an account quickly: click on the account, on the top left, just above the account name, is displayed the type of account, e.g., Spend, Save, Shared Save.

  • Are you sure the text wasn't just clipped because the original account name should have been USaver Ultra?

I suspect USaver Ultra name was attached to your USpend account which was then migrated across, but somehow truncated.
