Looking for Ryzen Deals to Upgrade My Old i7

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to upgrade my 2017 i7 CPU. While I only game occasionally, I primarily use my computer for CAD and 3D modeling, so I need a powerful processor. I'm aiming for the best value within a budget of $750, which includes both the CPU and motherboard. The motherboard should support DDR5 RAM and have 1-2 USB-C ports.

Additionally, I'm open to purchasing 32-64GB of RAM if the price is right.

I've been searching extensively, but the numerous options have become overwhelming. I would greatly appreciate any recommendations from those with more experience.

Thanks so much for your help!

Afterpay day is coming up middle of August, so keep your eyes on that. I wouldn't expect too big of a discount though until the AMD 9000 series release, which is around Aug 14/15th

    • legend will keep an eye out. ive been looking on ebay and some have 17% off but still no great deals from what i can see :)

  • The motherboard should support DDR5 RAM and have 1-2 USB-C ports

Not sure what exactly you want but I recently got the following

    Case ($55)
    B550 Matx board ($110)
    Ryzen 5 5600GT ($175)
    32GB (2x 16GB DDR4 3200) ($85)
    1TB SSD Gen 4 ($95)

    Total $520

I had powersupply and monitor etc. Upgraded from Xeon E3 1240v3 which is basically 4th Gen i7 without the GPU

Went from SATA3 SSD to NVME that topped out at 3500mb/s read / write. Night and day!

    • cheers man im just chasing a motherboard and cpu for now. hoping to get something quite powerful and somewhat future proof with my budget. i have most of the other components here. but will need to do a few other upgrades along the way.

      • I looked at AM5 using DD5 but the MB is +$50, Ram +50, CPU is +100. So basically basically your price.

I saw a few boards with a USBC on the back panel.

If you want it on the front panel you're going to have to look for a case with a front panel USBC.
