Meanwhile, Adventure chest 1: Meowscarada ex - 256/193, Adventure chest 2: Charizard ex - 223/197 and two adorable promos that are going for ~$20 sealed pretty regularly (prob tank a bit in the short term now). I'll tap out here because obviously it's just luck but Combined Powers can suck it, the promos aren't even that cool.

I was thinking of buying one and returning with the old receipt that was $49. But I’m not sure if they would return TCG products regardless if it’s still sealed or not.
I guess I can go to the customer service desk and ask for a refund for the difference. Ha
Tried this before for a different item and it isn't in their policy to refund price differences. I had to return it and repurchase it back.

I'm new to this but want to rip into some packs for nostalgia.
Is there a consensus store (online or physical) to buy cards from that are cheap?
I used the Paldean Fates Elite Trainer Box to explore the cost and it ranges from $59 (Kmart) to over $100 at boutique card stores.
I know the smaller businesses can't compete with big chains but I'm also considerate of my wallet!
You won't find one single place and it depends on the popularity of the set, or expected popularity. There's a lot of random stores, any one of them could be running a good promo on any given week and be high priced the next.
You just need to hit google with the box you're after and hunt around as you have.

I think that 151 Elite Trainer Box is a winner.
From what I've seen, it'll bring back a lot of memories from 1999.

Do be careful it's shipped AND sold by Amazon <country>. You can still get scammed but you should be able to get a refund if you get unlucky, I had no issues with 3-4 products during Prime sales this year from Amazon UK.
I wouldn't buy any Pokemon boxed product from resellers on Amazon (or eBay), there are so many scams out there, it doesn't seem worth the hassle.
