If only I had a phone that could use a memory card. Stupid fkng Google

    • +14

I will always be salty about phone manufacturers getting rid of micro SD card slots, trying to push us to rubbish cloud storage subscriptions.

  • -4

why not choose 512 one? better deal.

    • +4

Higher capacity. Majority of devices have maximum 1 sd card slot (cant add another if you run out of space). I did grab 2x 512gb and 1x 1Tb.

  • +8

    U1 card is slow.

    • Wouldn't store anything important on these anyway. So easy to corrupt

  • +7

1Tb Extreme is $110. Is that a good deal. Its U3 and A2. Better for Steam Deck or Switch?

    • +1

      This is a terrific deal?!

      • -2

Looks better than it is… $149 at Bunnings marketplace. Still good, but not really 75% off.

        • The “percentage off” isn’t measured by comparing against every other retailer’s prices.

          It’s against the RRP.

The Bunnings Marketplace pricing is also discounted by some “percentage off”.

So yes, it’s possible it’s really 75% off (the RRP).

You should go with an A2 over the A1, for the higher IO read/write volumes.

      • I have a Lenovo Legion Go. Are you saying I should go for the A2 (Extreme)?

        • The A2 over A1 is the important part.

A1 min random reads 1500 IOP, min random writes 500 IOPS
A2 min random reads 4000 IOP, min random writes 2000 IOPS

  • Good for the switch?

    • -7

      No

    • +2

It will be fine for the switch. I am using the exact same card except 400gb in my switch since 2021.

      • yeah starting to run out of pace I have a 512gb in my switch.

    • +1

The Switch's SD interface isn't particularly speedy, and maxes out under 100MB/s. A Sandisk Ultra is fine. Faster than the Switch cartridge, slower than internal memory.

      • 2 run games I didn't think it would need much hey a 3.5 inch hard drive does 100mbs and runs just find so a switch should be fine I would think.

      • +1

In my case, my 256GB Ultra ran out of space, so I opted for the Extreme Pro (future proofing for the Switch 2) and saw faster load times actually.

        • This is a good call out, will hold out for faster speed for future proofing.

  • Wow remember seeing these 1tb 10 years ago in Thailand, it was obviously fake as there was nothing over 64gb at the time.

Guess they actually did it, I'm impressed..

    • They have been available for at least 3 years now. You can get 1.5tb and 2tb cards now. The latter $$$

  • +2

good as a temp storage sticking into laptop SD card slot

  • Does OG Switch support this?

  • I can't believe they fit 1TB on these things now

  • Not a fast card that’s for sure

  • -3

Not worth buying from Amazon now. Even as a Prime member the delivery takes at least 3-4 weeks for NT addresses. I get stuff from China faster with free delivery.

    • Not sure why telling the truth gets you downvoted

      • +3

Because they made it a blanket statement that there is no value buying from Amazon, when the issue is because of long delivery to NT.

If they had said "Not worth buying from Amazon for those in NT now" or "Not worth buying from Amazon for me now" I wouldn't have negged.

According to the stats from March 2024, 0.2% of ozbargainers are from Darwin. I'm not saying their point is invalid or not true, and the minority should be heard, but not in a way that obscure the truth.

        • -4

My point is from my personal experience and it's a general statement on Amazon delivery. Why would anyone pay the extra 79$ a month on Prime when delivery time is the same as a non Prime member?

          • @HandsomeMonkey: In regional WA, even with the new fulfilment centre built last year, delivery times have been increasing. Amazons own products take 3+ weeks to arrive. I have purchased items from the US, Japan, China and Europe that have arrived quicker.

Disclaimer: These are my own thoughts derived from personal observations and experience. They may not represent an holistic view and differ from others.

            @HandsomeMonkey:

Why would anyone pay the extra 79$ a month

It’s $79 a year, and covers items under $50 that are not free shipping to non prime members. Also includes streaming services etc.

Last year I think I had 100 or so delivers via prime, many of them small $5 orders where the prime shipping was relevant.

In the ACT I find the estimated shipping times pretty accurate, and plenty of things are next day delivery. I don’t like that following Covid I no longer seem to get day one delivery for game pre-orders, but outside that shipping times seems fine. Do need to take into account deals like this which ship from overseas though.

    • thats strange theyve just started offering overnight delivery for me and im classed as rural qld

      • I was a Prime member for about a year or two. It wasn't that bad before but now it's a 3 - 4 weeks delivery for two sticks of RAM from Amazon.com.au and it's also an Australian seller.
Changed it to my brother's address in Adelaide and it's only two days.

SD cards from China? Good luck with that (even official Amazon sometimes send fakes)

  • Hope can have similar prices for a usb flash drive too

  • How's the reliability of these cards? Can these be used instead of external back up drives?

  • Is it compatible with action 3 and DJI mini 4 pro?

    • +2

It might fit but this isn’t a fast card so would look elsewhere for something with better write performance.

  • Is there a noticeable framerate difference when using the standard SanDisk SD card vs the extreme pro in a steam deck?
