Hi all, I'm currently in the market for a decent monitor light bar for my Dell S2722QC as I don't have decent lighting in my home office. I was thinking of buying the Xiaomi Monitor Light Bar for $68 on Amazon but I've been seeing multiple comments online that their Xiaomi Light bar died after 5-8 months of use. Can you guys recommend me any other brands? The BenQ one looks great but is too pricey for me.

Thanks! I just noticed that the one that’s being sold on Amazon is the older version. The newer model isn’t even on Xiaomi’s official site but on Cozydev for $90. The Ikea one is pretty tempting at $30 too.
remote control is bloody stupid
The circular puck? I like it…. Can change brightness (obviously) and the CCT.
Yeah, the puck.
I think it'd make more sense for the controls to be touch sensitive areas (or better yet) physical buttons on the light bar.
Because the light bar is always in arms reach if you're sitting at the desk.
I've found that it's a very Chinese-tech thing to have electronic gadgets where the functions are reliant on a pointless remote control that can easily be lost. And the device itself has almost no interface, or a very bad one. Lots of the stuff that I've gotten from taobao are designed like this.
Mine is almost 3 years old now. But if yours dies after 5-8 months surely Amazon will have to help you.
actually… im interested too… currently using a non curved light bar on a curved monitor so some lights end up hitting the screen a lot more than I'd like…
Also, I have a monitor-mounted webcam, any recommendation of a compatible light bar that can still allow a webcam to be mounted?
I have two Xiaomi monitor lights that have lasted about 2 years of daily use with no dramas. Well worth the purchase
Can someone tell me what the purpose of a light bar is?
It's just a desk lamp without taking up desk space.
Righto, thought that because it hovers above the screen there's some purpose to reducing screen glare… something along those lines.
Thanks! They tend to be angled so as not to reflect off the screen, but the same can be said for a desk lamp.
Been using one for close to three years now… it's been a lot better (fits a wider range of monitor thicknesses) than another brand that I found in Oz (can't remember the brand name though).
The remote control is bloody stupid though- I cannot see the point of it, and it's just more desk clutter.
Ikea also make dirt cheap monitor lights that have a metal flex-fit arm, which is perfectly serviceable. And the controls are on the bar. But they come in a weird colour.
