My toddler smashed our trusty 12 year old Sammy plasma.

I was looking for a relatively cheap replacement for it. I think ATL for this TV was $947 last month. Cheapest right now is $1049 @ Costco. But i reckon this is better value as I used gift cards from Shopback to save $20.

Bing Lee currently has a promo where you receive 10% back as a gift card.

Final calculation:
Purchase price = $1089
10 % Back in gift card = $108.90
2% on $1k Gift card from Shopback = $20
Final Price = $960.10

Good work, kid - now do the 96 Camry with 400,000 km on it.

    • +10

Nah, I applaud the non throwaway society method.

    • +5

Nah. A '96 Camry is bulletproof.

      • +4

Exactly why it needs to meet with toddler.

Immovable object v unstoppable force kinda dealio

        • +1

I thought you had to feed them a toddler a year to keep them oiled. Or was that rangers?

      • Can you get back to the television!

    • +1

That Camry is still a baby.

    • +2

Inb4 My teenager filled up our trusty Camry with diesel because it was the cheapest fuel

      • +1

        Hey, that smells like
        Diesel.. she needs premium, dude!

        PREMIUM!

        DUUUUUDE!!

        • +1

Well, she was promised a warriors honorable death.

      • That wouldnt kill it though……

    • +2

Camry's a keeper! I'd like to know how much energy a sammy plasma burnt off in 12 years!

      • +3

Perfect 2 in 1 come Winter time.

        • good point… go out and party and play sport in summer, and only use the tv in winter.

      • keeper

True but I bet op is prob about due for a midlife crisis and that 2024 Mazda MX-5 in soul red be lookin temptin’

        • +1

MX-5 is for sugar Daddys. I think you might have your eyes on it.

          • +1

            @Nickelback: Maybe 10 years ago.

I wouldn’t mind a tricked out blacked out Toyota Vellfire - though budget says more like ‘96 green tarago with mid to heavy bonnet and roof uv paint damage

        • +1

well… if the op is anything like me, he'll keep the camry (or whatever other old workhorse he has), and buy an MX5.

But being an ozbargainer, he'd be a fool to buy a new car. I found the savings on buying an 1999 MX5 to be immense…I mean, it's only got about 200K on it, but it's about to get historic rego, so 90 days a year use for sod all rego and insurance cost… and it is quicker coming down belair road (adelaide's premiere close to the city winding motorbike road) than any of the bikes I used to/ still have.

As a matter of interest… does one have to be in a crisis to buy something that's fun? Do you plan on fossilizing as you age?

Plot twist: Toddler drove Camry into Sammy

      • +2

crashes through lounge wall, kool aid man style

        OH YEAHHHHH

  • +1

I'd like to hear the story of how the old faithful met its end.

    • +2

A Nerf gun battle never ends well.

      • +3

Likely story. We all know that you did it to get a new telly.

        • +1

Haha yeah. You are right. I did manifest it in some way.

    • +2

I want to imagine op has a photo selfie of himself with the tv when they first got it 12 years ago. More hair on the head, about 10kg lighter, carefree.

look at this photographhhhh everytime i do itmakes me laughhhh

great find, well done — the gift card can only be used on future purchases so takes the shine off those not immediately returning to Bing Lee. The Costco deal is $1050 and includes delivery also … can't do wrong with either at these prices.
    thanks for sharing

And for anyone who hasn't bought a 75" tv before, the boxes are (profanity) massive.

Need a van at the least to get it home …and at least one other person to help.

Paying for delivery is worth it.

  • I love plasmas! How does this QLED compare to your old screen?

    • +3

do you need room heating when you're running the plasma?

      • +1

        No. Need cooling in summer.

    • +1

A last gen Samsung plasmas black level and motion would wipe the floor with this TV.

  • +1

I was looking for a relatively cheap replacement for it.

Where do you normally buy your toddlers from?

    • Must be from LG

    • Ask “Obiden”.

  • +1

C855 black friday if can wait

  • Appliances on line have this for $869

    • +1

that's for the 65", the 75" is $1,179 at appliancesonline

  • How does one get it delivered for $1089? Comes up with $40 delivery for me.

  • +1

    TV any good though?

  • Appliances Online had this for $947 Delivered last month.

    • Read the entire post he explained at the bottom

  • Same thing happened to me too. F8500 😭

  • Anyone have their own review on this? Worth it?

    • My gf bought it when it went on sale at appliances online. I'd say its very worth it, unless you're doing gaming or have the extra money to spend on the c745

      • Why is bad for gaming? Lag? Blur?

  • +1

I just received the 65" C655 last weekend, managed to get it for $754 including free delivery (had to wait a month as it was out of stock) and its a brilliant TV! Great picture and like all new TV's needs some manual adjustments but for the price the quality is IMO outstanding!!

  • Is this tv better than my Sony x9500h (2020)? Looking to upgrade soon 😅 but most likely going for the 855.

  • Pity that Bing Lee is sold out now.

This is is the nearest available price which i could find. If you can get local store stock for free C&C (otherwise there's a $55 delivery charge). You can get it through TGG for $1105 through the price beat. Click on Price Check: Pay less with PRICE BEAT which is right above the add to cart button.
