  • Can you port out and back in again?

    • +2

      From the blurb:

"If you are with Boost at the moment, you will have to port your number out to another carrier for a few days and then port it back to Boost by activating the new Boost SIM."

      • +4

I had no problems porting back in after an hour, few days sounds excessive.

        • +3

I like to spend the month with the new carrier I port to so I can test them out, unlimited calls and 40GB data for $7.90 I may as well get my money's worth.

    • +3

the plan recharge option is being removed effective oct 22
if you have the plan, it shouldnt affect it, just means you cant recharge it again

        • +2

well no, you just recharge with a different amount?

or, you can still do the port out and port in using the $230 sim provided you do it before the expiry date on the sim pack. They have to honor sims purchased

          • +1

@warclone: $300 being the minimum 12 month plan.

          • +1

            @warclone:

well no, you just recharge with a different amount?

only other 12 month plan is $300

      • +2

Well you can, but with a different recharge amount. They are discontinuing the recharge value of $230 for 12 months plans. Doesn't stop you recharging with a different plan

        • Does any know what the new product will be??

          • @he88388: The message I got was the $300 12 month plan will still be available or you can change to one of the monthly expiry plans.

        • -3

Doesn't stop you recharging with a different plan

          $300 for a 12 month plan stops me…

          • @jv: $300 for 12 months is not worth it.

            • -2

@he88388: No it's not, thus why most people on the $230 plan will move elsewhere…

They've increased this plan quite a few times over the last few years… It was barely good value as it was, and now they are getting rid of it…

        • I guess the new alternative will be aldi mobile, as they are also using the telstra network.

          • @tor: Or Woolies…

            • @jv: Who have also killed all of their current offerings with new plans to come out 4th Sept. ☹️

              • -2

                @parkies:

Who have also killed all of their current offerings

Not if you select it before Sep and turn on auto-renew.

            • @jv: Aldi and Woolies don't include 5G. It has extra cost for 5G. Also, Woolies doesn't include insternational call for 12m plan.

          • @tor: Watered down version of the Telstra network.

          • +1

@tor: They dropped their equivalent plan a while back. The closest thing now is their $19/month plan, but it's not as good.

    • -1

      JV ,”you’ve done it again”.

  • +5

    price beat with officeworks!

    • +3

Same. 180.50. So $15.04/month for telstra network. Hard to beat without monthly sim swaps.

    • Same

    • Same. Jumping from telstras exorbitant plans. Expiry wasn't as good as was june in local stock. Even if i used the data up in 6 months ita still worth it .

    • Walked into my local OW and it was their last one in stock, felt so good.

      • But then you realised there were two hundred sitting out back in a box !

    • Orificewanks Hornsby denied me a price match this evening. Once again refusing to honour their price match guarantee. Shady.

      • I find the best time to price match is when there is a line behind you. They stressed and cave and just want to get rid of you as soon as.

  • +1

    Fair warning,

The 365 GB version only has more data, but you lose out on international calls and minutes.

Have bought from this seller on eBay before, more than once. Other ones are auditech and mobiletechmart. Usually all their prices are around the same - one might offer faster postage to different areas. This seller is based in SA - checked my most recent purchase of boost mobile was with them.
I have purchased boost mobile sims since few years back for myself, wife and on behalf of many friends so there has been plenty of purchasing per year just boost mobile alone.

    • Cool thanks for the feedback so at least I can trust this seller

  • +2

Have bought from this seller through eBay and directly from their website - no issues at all, trustworthy seller would buy again A++++++++++++

  • can i buy this and keep it until sept then activate it when my telstra plan expires?

    • yes but depends on exp of the sim card itself (usually till december but YMMV)

    • Recent packs bought have been September 2025. I expect this stock to be the same.

Alternatively you could go to Officeworks, check the expiry before purchase, and then price beat.

      • I emailed them confirmed to be Sep 2025. So this is a good deal for those who still want to stay with Boost

        • Might have to buy a couple.

          • +1

@scottb721: You would have to recharge before Sep 2025, and then do it again next year for the same to extend

  • I am confused by 'Activated by 05 Aug'. Does anyone know it means if I don't activate by 05 Aug, e.g. if I activate on 15th Aug due to the late delivery from auspost, that I would still have 160G data? And that is the case, will my new sim expiry day to be at 05/08/2025 or 15/08/2025? Many thanks~

    • +2

It's only the deadline to receive bonus 10gb data. The 160gb will be anyway valid for a year from your date of activation even if it's post the deadline for bonus data.

      • +1

Thanks heaps @WhatsTheBigDeal!! I thought it was getting 170G or nothing. And thought it was a VERY BIG GAMBLE on Auspost, haha. Sounds like a good deal and seems many people purchased from there before. I will go ahead with the purchase tmr.

      • Lol I always thought it was the other way around with the 160GB being the bonus.

  • +1

What's the expiry date on the sim?

  • +6

Bought from this seller (again) 2 weeks ago.. Expiry date on my sim is 2025-09-08.

    • +3

      Appreciate this.

      Thank you

    • +2

correct me if im wrong - expiry on the sim means the last date to "activate" the sim on a mobile number - not the last date it will remain usable after activated. Eg. if you activate yours on 2025-09-01 it will remain good for another 12 months.

      • +4

Correct, in theory I could buy 2 sims now activate the first one in September 2024 then port out and back in before Sept 8 2025 for another 365 days.. Boost's website confirms they'll honour the $230 Sim inclusions (160Gb etc) for sims activated after 21 October 2024 but before the sim expiry date

        • +1

and this is exactly why i asked the question lol, well not to buy 2 sims but to have one purchased now itself to port-out/in around Feb when my current plan expires.. thanks

          • +2

@WhatsTheBigDeal: Cheers, I bought one sim for me and one for my friend. my current plan expires end January.. I checked the expiry date with the seller before I bought.

          • @WhatsTheBigDeal: Thanks for this. I'm in a similar boat. My 12 month plan expires in Feb 2025. And planning to buy one of these before October once the new prices come into effect.

Just a question, how do we know before buying, when the SIM expires?

        • Where on the Boost website do they confirm that about SIMs?

          • +2

@sween64: My mistake..it was on the app…hit "Learn more" on the first pop up screen that says "Our recharge options are changing"

Update: Just found it on their website too https://news.boost.com.au/latest-plans/

            • +1

@Luigi Savadamoni: Excellent. I bought one this week for use in April 2025, I doubt I'll find one with an expiry of April 2026 or later…

              • @sween64: But you lose the 10GB bonus data waiting that long, Correct?

                • @scottb721: Yep. I'm currently on a Boost 12 month plan and it doesn't expire until April. I don't need the extra 10 GB, certainly not at the expense of 8 months…

  • this or catch connect? It is around $70 difference ….

  • I sent an email to [email protected] over 2 weeks ago asking what the expiry date of the sim was, no response.

Keep in mind if there are any issues you will not get any support

    • +4

I sent my query to them via ebay and got the following response within a few days.

      Hi there,

The expiry date of our SIM is 08/09/2025. You can activate it any day before it. But whether you will get 170GB data depends on what Boost prepaid plan includes on the time you activate.

    • I got a reply on expiry with 24 hours is not fast but they did reply

  • +2

Officeworks in Melbourne CBD (Elizabeth and QV), would not price match Lucky Mobile. They said it's a small retailer so they can't confirm stock. Expiry dates on the starter packs in both stores was 24 June 2025.

    • As usual they will give some lame excuse not to price match

    • Officeworks in Hornsby also refused me a price match. Fed me some line about "can't trust the site, changes too often, registered in SA" like that should matter. Shady practices to refuse price matches once again. OW sucks.

      • I'd ask where in their price match it states those issues applied.

  • so activating after 5th August will get me 10GB less.
Any chance of different deals from Boost after that date?

  • To keep my number
I buy this, then when activating have my number ported in/ newly assigned to this sim card?

  • Ordered last Monday 29 July and got shipping notification including registered post tracking around 5pm that day. Been 48 hours, the tracking has zero updates like it hasn't been received/posted. From those who have ordered from Lucky Mobile before - is this normal for them? And do they offer any sort of insurance if it gets lost?

Obviously a concern as I ordered 2, valued at $380! Not something I'd be happy about if it got lost.

    • +2

Not all scannable items get scanned unfortunately. Had it lots myself, even a new GPU a couple of years ago.

    • I ordered also via registered post but didn't get an order confirmation email just the website order number on screen did you get a email receipt??

      • I finally got an Auspost update today 1 Aug. Still in SA, expected in the ACT by 6 Aug.

I got the tracking number back in 29 July via email.

        • Did you ever get an invoice or receipt email once you ordered?

          • @neonlight: I don't believe so. Just order notifications. I'm assuming you're after an invoice to claim as an expense elsewhere? I would just ask them for one.

            • @spades: There's no email at all for anything for me just the order number on the website screen but no email. Was thinking it's the same for you

              • @neonlight: I got a total of 3 emails: order received, order complete, order updated with tracking number.

One thing I did though is order using Google Pay. It completed the order for me using my Google Account details.

                • @spades: Thanks yeah its strange haven't got the order received email last night when i bought online.

  • +4

Confirmed with our suppler, customers can still get 170GB data if activate it after 05 Aug. Boost is keeping their $230 prepaid plan unchanged.

    • Hey mate if I activate today or tomorrow (weekend). How long does the port process take (from Optus to Boost)?

      • +1

Just started the porting process now (Sunday) and I can tell you it's not instant. Will wait till tomorrow (Monday) to see if I'm ported over

  • What happens if I buy now but activate in Oct?
    Is it still same?

    • You just lose the 10GB bonus data.

  • +1

They put the September 2025 expiry on the listing, but when i got mine yesterday, they expire in July 2025. Won't actually screw me up, but not good to just swap on you.

  • Just received mine!

Ordered 2x $230 sims for 190 each on July 29
    Arrived 6 Aug

I checked the SIM expiry dates and it’s showing 2026-04-11

    • Wish there was some consistency with expiry dates, I'd grab a couple as I need Nov.

      • Sorry we wish we could get some new dated ones. But we were told by our supplier that all the stocks in their 3 warehouse now are Jan 2025 ones.

        • +1

You shouldn't have advertised September of you're going to send July, though.
