Is there a long-running free/discounted NSW government programme to have household taps/faucets checked and replaced?
I could have sworn that I saw a post to this effect maybe 6 months ago. Did a search but couldn't find it again.

Yep, that was it- thanks for the amazing swift reply!
Looks like it $44 now with some changes to offers.
Sydney water came out, and for the cheap price of $44 replaced some washers and complete f***ed up a pair of taps which only became apparent days after he'd gone and I discovered water slowly seeping through the bathroom.
Called in a proper plumber who showed me the cause. The first guy was hamfisted clown and had bent a critical piece of tubing. And icing on the cake was that these second plumbers quickly fixed the taps which the Sydney Water guy said had seized and shouldn't be touched without complete replacement.
Would very much recommend NOT using the Sydney water callouts.

Let me guess, did they bend the Breech Basin Tee when trying to remove the tap spindle?
@RichardL: Prezactly.
This program is only to fix leaking taps and replace water consumsing shower heads with water saving ones.
The idea to to reduce water use/wastage.
No they dont replace taps/faucets and many people dont like the water saving shower heads.
Its a good deal if you have a few leaking taps.
Just negative gear it!
If your tap is running, catch it before it gets away.
NSW Program for Checking Household Taps?
Do they check if they work????
With all the posts you make, obviously you dont!
But the answer is NO
obviously you dont!
That is true, I do not check people's taps.
Not for free, anyway….
If I give you 5 bucks, will you check mine?
Possibly this deal?
