Qantas Frequent Flyer Points - Anyone Still Chasing These?

Hi all,

I've recently started getting back into collecting Qantas FF points as I now have a business and wanted to take advantage of Yak Pay. I'm working out that with fees, I'm essentially seeing that I'm buying points at a price of 1.4-2.0c/point - worked out on a 100k spend and no credit card fees added.

Is anyone else still chasing QFF points? With the increase in costs to rewards flights, I'm not seeing a great saving by buying points at this pricing.

Thanks,

    Anyone Still Chasing These?

    No

  • I'm confused, you're paying that much in fees and save nothing? That sounds awful, what's the point of the platform?

You can get points at about 2.5c each buying wine, and you get the wine.

    • The platform gives you a bonus amount of points per dollar spend, on top of your reward credit card points. It also gives you the ability to pay invoices and ATO bills with your reward credit card, that usually only accept direct deposits. So with their fees, you're essentially buying points at a particular rate, but it's looking like the rate of 1.4-2c per QFF point is a no go.

  • I'll chase them but at that rate it's terrible.

I'll usually aim for 0.50c per point or under, including all fees.

Cheers, any tips on where you're getting points for that figure? Sign up bonus to cards looks like it's still the best option by a mile

      • Yes. This is how people do it.

QFF flyer points is for chumps. I’m all about status credits these days.

    I get 10 credits each time I fly Sydney-Dubbo!

Nope. Plus be careful trying to sell them on here. Got oodles of enquiries from semi-smart scammers.

1.4-2c per point is very expensive. is this before tax?
usually I think of 1c per pt as breakeven but the constant devaluation and lack of availability of reward flights is making it less attractive

  • I found this the other day and it has a drop down box to calculate a range of loyalty points and the $ value
