Genuine question. Why would you go old gen when you can get 7700 xt for $606.25 with code?
https://www.centrecom.com.au/gigabyte-radeon-rx-7700-xt-gaming-oc-12g-graphics-card…
Gaming performance only ~2% better on rx 6800.
My guess is the extra VRAM could be helpful in future proofing when it comes to future games?
Ah. Thats fair enough 12gb vs 16gb
probably also the extra bandwidth would help as you move up the resolution
If 16GB VRAM is a must, stretch for the 7800 XT. It's faster and current (i.e. driver support) for just an extra $100.
I'd get the 6800 only if I could find it used for under $500. Not going to spend $600 on a 4-year-old card regardless of raw performance.
They have nothing to sell in stock, with their sale ending a few days before stock arrival.
ETA of almost 2 weeks away for stock?
Got 6800 2 years ago for around $90 more, it’s pretty decent 1440p for the games I play. Easily undervolted with AMD driver app, got around 5% performance boost while still lower temps and lower power usage. But 7800xt probably better buy for just a bit more.
An unpopular opinion… software wise, not referring to DLSS v FSR… I prefer AMD's driver software thingy.. so easy to display temps, fps etc in game.
Not to mention 1 button for idiots like me to undervolt (did it with my RX 6700) and it dropped 35W and 5c just like that.
I got this from Amazon last year-they still making them??
Pretty big. Just do the measurement before you buy. And you definitely need a graphic support bracket- or just use lego
