It seems like cheating to use IC’s for these.

Back in the day, as a kid I’d spend all afternoon winding my own crystal radio coil.

    I’ll see myself out.

I bet you walk uphill both ways to school as well.

        Yep. In the snow.

    • Was this before or after tin cans?

  • Can you explain why this is not for beginners, suitable for intermidate/advanced levels? Is it the soldering?

    • Cuz it makes beginners feel better.

The most challenging thing in teaching is not passing on knowledge, it's encourage curiosity.
The most important part in learning is not acquire knowledge, it's building up confidence.
And the fundamental of both above is 'make the person feel better'. :)

    • There is one IC that I can see is quite small, you would need some sort of magnification.
Have a look at page 5 on the manual.

I would not do it the way the would but the chance of bridging the legs is quite high, you would need some desolder wick and maybe flux as well.

If this is your first project, the chance of it working would be very low.
If you are not used to soldering you may burn some of the components by heating too long.

But for that price it's not much to lose.

    • instructions are awful

  • This is very unhelpful lol

  • Looks like no radios have BNC connection.. 😪
