Been using that glass teapot from a deal ages ago finally, the little Japanese one. I tried some random loose tea from Amazon, and Yorkshire Gold after reading it's the best tea you can get in any supermarket. But I want to find a good source of cheap tea to use, that doesn't just taste like hey.
Good Value Loose Tea?

I never considered green tea. Guess you shouldn't add milk to it?
No, just hot water and filter the tea after 10 minutes.
Upon reflection, I don't think I'm ready for people to see me as a green tea drinker at this point in my life.
taste like hey

The eternal struggle.
I've tried the same, and what I found is that if you're used to the price of teabags, there's going to be big jump in price. Teabags are priced very low. At one point Dilmah was trying to raise the price because they said it wasn't sustainable to sell this low, but Coles threatened to pull their entire line so they had to capitulate.
I suppose you could try Asian/Indian stores, they are often better priced on the staples, but I've found they tend to sell in larger amounts. I've never been game to risk it and end up left with 1kg of something yuck.
Asian grocer, generally better for green tea but I've seen a few that sell black tea too. Try a few bags until you find something you like.
I always like hibiscus tea. Also spearmint. Try Nerada or similar. If passing the markets in town, look at Gewürzhaus for something special.
Yorkshire Gold in teabags is somewhat inferior to the loose leaf version; available at DJs among other places
I got the loose leaf version, from Amazon. I find adding a glob of honey to it helps.
Do you not like it? Personally I'm a blender, I mix two black teas, 4 minutes. T2 English Breakfast or Yorkshire Gold are mainstays.
I never thought about mixing them. I guess I like it, I keep drinking it. It makes me pee a lot after, way more than coffee.
@AustriaBargain: Stir a few times while it's steeping and don't go too far past 4 minutes
@sumyungguy: I have been doing 5-6 minutes like the pack says. But I'll try 4 minutes.
@AustriaBargain: Using filtered water?
@sumyungguy: Just tap water. Should I use filtered?
@AustriaBargain: Absolutely! Tap water make awful tea unless you're in the Nordics
@sumyungguy: I use my coffee machine to dispense hot filtered water, spits it out slowly. I guess i should fill the pot first then lower the filter basket full of tea into it?
@AustriaBargain: What filter system is in your coffee machine? I use a Brita jug to fill my espresso machine… and make tea
@sumyungguy: I have a RO filter that slowly fills big jug, then i pour it straight into the machine.
@AustriaBargain: All good, RO is superior
I like dilmah loose leaf tea from woolies or coles
Xoteas is my go to for hibiscus by the kg
They have some other good stuff too. The lemon Myrtle is great
