Ads Taking Over The Page

Has anyone else experienced ads taking over the page? I've experienced it twice today on two different computers so am wondering if it's related to the site or my Chrome profile on both computers.

I'd be reading the comments when suddenly the whole page turns white and only displays an ad and the navigation buttons at the bottom.

It looks like this.

  • I have noticed the same issue on my mobile phone as well.

  • scotty/Neil will be all over this when they wake up in the morning.

We have already reported this yesterday to the upstream provider. Ads that alter the style of the website itself — that's definitely a rogue.

  • sounds like your chrome profile.

You can turn ads off when you're logged in. And if you aren't, ad blocking. I've never seen a single ad on this site, and right now all my adblocker is blocking is googletag.

I'd like to support websites in whatever miniscule way I can, so I leave ads on.

Use a good adblocker, on your phone too. Scotty doesn't mind, intelligent users like us don't click on ads anyway.

Or just turn ads off in the settings

        Ads make scotty cents. Cheers

        • that makes scents.

          That edit is better.

@mapax: Ninja edit. Muscle memory took over.

    • I don't use adblockers as I prefer supporting the sites and services I use in whatever small way I can.

      • Better to support the site by posting good deals. Or quality comments to keep people coming back. Scotty makes between 0-10% on anything visitors who are not logged in buy on Amazon after clicking an Amazon link for example. That $400 luxury watch yesterday, Scotty would have made $40 a pop, plus whatever else people bought on Amazon in the 24 hours after clicking the link.

        • Why not do that as well as leave ads on? :)

          • @eug: It's a free internet, you can leave ads on if you want.

            • @AustriaBargain: It's probably 'free' the way it is now because of ads too.

              • @eug: OZB has to be one of the most successful affiliate sites in Australia. We all want to buy stuff all day every day. It is pretty niche though, kind of a dorky name, can't see the average person wanting to be here. If I were Scotty I would want to grow into a site/service that the average person would be comfortable with, instead of the average OZBargainer, we are a little odd tbh.
