So I went to pay my Synergy bill via BPay on the Zip app but I noticed there is a Gift Card option. If I buy say a $500 Zip Anything gift card using my NAB Rewards credit card, how do I use that to pay for my Synergy bill?
PS I have not used Zip before, I signed up years ago and haven't used it since and support is not great, so thought I'd ask here as I'm sure someone has bought one…I hope haha
Yeah sorry should have said as NAB Rewards don’t get points for BPay but that’s on their platform and they aren’t sure if it will work when doing it via Zip.
So I just wanted to understand how the gift cards work and then make a decision.
if you bpay with zip and pay off zip with nab you get points
Unfortunately a bit of a PITA unless you're one of those with the 1k+ limits. Speaking of which, feels like they've completely stopped offering limit raises since they dropped the cap from $2k earlier this year.

got the 1.5k increase because i used it regularly to churn cards.

@askbargain: Have you ever been temporarily locked out and paid any of the monthly fees? Wonder if that's a factor for them. Did you also immediately start with $1k after you opened the account? Unfortunately started on only $350 and after over a year now still stuck on that.
For people with an Amex, does it work the same as Sniip/PL?

Reading the giftcard option, it sounds like they are just selling you a prezzee giftcard so u can swap for another retailer. It's not for you to apply to your bill (rather just a zip pay branded prezzee giftcard, like shopback giftcard)
The benefit of zip pay is to earn points on bills you normally wouldn't (that, and u can delay payment by a whole credit cycle/month). I don't think there are any other hoops to jump through for extra value (eg like GCs)

No I didn’t know how it worked TBH. So I used Zip last night to pay Synergy and the amount comes off my available credit. Then to avoid the $9.95 fee I just used the app to pay the amount in full and that’s when my credit card was debited and get the points on the next statement.
ZIP Pay blocks bank biller code so you cannot do this.
Why use gift cards if bpay works?
