Hey Folks,

Hope everyone's saying happy and healthy as we get closer to the end of winter :)

Fingers crossed that some of our favourite origins will put a smile on everyone's face.

For filter, Atypical is showcasing a delicious natural Ethiopian that's, wait for it - fruity!! If you like Ethiopian's it'll be tough to not enjoy this beauty.

On the espresso side, we've got a washed Indonesian coffee that's crisp and clean. Plenty of nuance and character, but nothing that's going to overpower. If you take your espresso black, this is the one for you. If you add milk, we've got a nice assortment of blends. The ever reliable Seasonal and Heavyweight blends from AXIL, as well as their fruit forward Pele. But that's not all!

We're stoked to be spotlighting Seven Seeds for the first time in quite a while. Whether you've tried them before, or haven't heard of them, we're confident you'll see why they're one of the original speciality roasters on the scene in Melbourne. Our allocation is limited on these two blends so get in quick!

One final note, we've changed our cut off time. No more 10pm rush, you've now got until midnight on Wednesday to place your orders.

Expedited Dispatch
Expedited dispatch is staying! Orders that only include Atypical, AXIL, Seven Seeds, Padre, Code Black, Small Batch, Proud Mary and Wide Open Road will be picked up the next day (15/08) by Auspost. From there, we will work to dispatch orders according to our usual dispatch schedule (Picked up by Auspost on Friday). GoPeople orders (Local deliveries in Melbourne) will still be delivered on Saturday morning like usual. If you're unsure which zone you fall into, please ask :)

Also, please don't worry if the messaging you see in the cart and via email differs to what I've written above. I'm still trying to find a neat way to distinguish this without causing extra confusion. We're implementing some new dispatch software on the backend that should make this a reality very soon!

      Please don’t freeze your coffee beans. I’d say ideally used within two weeks, but should be fine for a month.

      No different to other bags with a one way valve. As long as you keep it airtight you can ensure yourself a nice 3-5 weeks to enjoy it.

      Technically, my recommendation on freezing is to weigh out individual doses and then
      vacuum seal using plastic or store in plastic test tubes.

      Personally, I’ve stopped doing it. My freezer filled up and I had a big enough battle keeping on top of the coffee sitting on the bench.

      So I guess now my recommendation is to only do it if you’re organised or want to save a coffee you REALLY love.

      I break them down into 250g lots and then vac seal. When it's time to open another bag, I let them fully defrost before opening the bag (doesn't take long) and then put individual serves into tubes for use during the week. Still pulling and tasting great after 3 months in the freezer, no issues at all for me.

    Direct Coffee are great to deal with, and most of the time end up being cheaper to order from than the original supplier (that I like anyway).

    I personally find nothing wrong with freezing a zip locked portion (that you don’t envision using within a month) without air.
    Just need to ensure you let them defrost properly before you want to use them.

    Aside from the examples in the post, how do we work out the discounted price of other beans/blends? Can work it out without adding it other basket and checking out? I'm interested in the decaf options primarily.

      A super fair question! We had a spreadsheet, but it got challenging to keep it both neat and more importantly accurate.

      It’s definitely on my list to figure out a good way to present these numbers.

    @directcoffee, trying to order 4 different 250g varieties, which I presume come in cans. Why does your system force me to exclude the lid when I am adding to cart? How would I seal the can if there's no lid?
