For anyone with this kind of budget perhaps also consider
    - Formovie S5 $742
    - Dangbei Atom $1265

The formovie can run off power banks for ultimate portability and the Dangbei is 1200 lumens.

    • Thanks for the share. The Formovie (I love Chinese brand naming) comes with a bodge System OS rather than Google TV. I would pay the higher price for the brand and support of Anker, the Google TV experience and built in battery.

        Fair point.
Buuut, a 65w power bank for $70 and google tv 4k/fire stick 4k max for $80. You will end up with a significantly cheaper, brighter higher quality image and a more modular solution.

    • Wemax Go Advance is really good. I have one. On sale i paid $750aud
300lm on battery and 600lm when plugged in.
Native 1080p. Laser projection. Autofocus. Compact unit, about 20x10x2cm. Audio is not the best, but I connect with a bluetooth B&O Beolite 17 and this thing is like a cinema with so much punch and lower end.

A friend Bought the Wemax Dice on special black friday for $530aud.
That is even better option as its 700 lumens and much bigger speaker. It is a much larger unit, so keep that in mind.

  • Are there any decent home projectors in 5000 lumens range?

    • +1

      5000 lumen

Like actual ansi lumen or Chinese lumen?

      And budget?

  • +1

What's really the difference between the cheap sub-$200 projectors vs one as expensive as this or equivalent? 1080p isn't even that great at that price to begin with but then again I'm not familiar with projectors.

I got this from amazon recently. Was very happy with its resolution.

      • Damn it I wish I didn't just randomly reading comments and clicking links. Ended up buying it but not sure if I really need it tbh but given that there's a $50 off coupon.. why not hey? Also the review seems very promising.

      • How much did you pay?

        • +1

$130 with an additional 5% off with code 7VAW69U6

Seems pretty decent for the price.

      • 720p for a projector is pretty meh.

        ‎1280 x 720

        1080P Supported

And there is zero chance that thing is 15000 lumen. Just another seller using word games to confuse the unsuspecting to shift a projector.

    • Well for a start the one in the op has a battery so can take it camping etc

    • The resolution @1080p, laser projector, auto focus, auto keystone, battery built in, real Android TV and supported apps, quality speaker.

At this price point I’d be looking at the Xgimi Halo +. Purchased one recently and really happy with it, Android TV, 900 ansi lumens, 2 hour battery and built in chromecast.

  • Have always wanted one, but can't justify it..yet. What's the typical use case for this? Outdoors? TV replacement?

    • not bright enough for outside, just for very dark room i would say,
