You do realise that there are high tier products out there that cost more, right?

      get this one.

      https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/jaell-laundry-bag-with-stand-wh…

can confirm is plenty large enough to hold more than one wash worth in front loader.

it is very light weight, folds up and you can carry it down narrow hallway easily. then you just open it up again and plonk it down in front of washer, you can scoop out your clothes just like any other basket.

it’s been years and has held up just fine, although my clothes are never all grimy and covered in sauce etc.

only downside I can think of is no matter which orientation one of the thin legs sticks out. it’s thin so you would think if you kicked it would break easily but no I have kicked it a few times without any problem.

since then someone else had kicked it and one of the fabric strings with screw still stuck on it had come off one end. but it was still standing and I just pushed it back into the hole, and used a screwdriver to tighten it gently and it’s good as new! made to be repairable even after breaking! Worth $7!

also worth mentioning family member really really wants this J&J Tota. I was going to buy it for them if 60L dropped to around $40 -$50 but that price didn’t happen.

      • Maybe they weren't expecting you to revive it.

        • I mean it was clearly a + screw so pushing it back in was the first thing I did when I noticed.

maybe if it was one of those button types with no way to make it stay I would have given up.

only one side had come loose though, so the opposite side still had the fabric brace so it would have stood up and still work as intended just be a little wonky.

I had one of these which lasted less than 12 months. The stitching connection to the main bag failed. So don't overload it too much..

        • I just chuck my clothes in (so lots of air gaps and stuff inbetween) and it's been fine. I thought that stitching would fail too, particularly the part where it's holding onto and goes around the frame at the top but no it's been fine.

I dunno why it failed for you, do you like fill it up so quick you are pushing down on your clothes to fit more in? I don't do that. roughly 3/4 full is like a full load of front washer so try to do the wash when it's that full. sometimes I do it after it's over 1/2 full. but I have had times where I was carrying it and thought it's "heavier than usual" because of more clothes inside, but never thought the bag would come apart. when you fold it compact and carry it it seems like the force of your clothes also goes "outwards" instead of "down" so I think less stress on the stitching. just my personal opinion but I think it's a good design.

          • @harshbdmmaster718: I didn't notice when it happened but usually only filled to 1/2 to 3/4 full. That said, it might be that full for over a week.

            • @Caped Baldy: I just had a closer look at the ikea product I linked, and noticed a minor difference.

everything seems to be the same except! the parts where the bag hangs on mine goes all the way across and the opening where your hand would go through is half circle shaped (curve pointing down).

so the one they are selling now doesn’t hang and have stitching all the way across where it hangs on the frame.

weird! upgraded (downgraded) design due to shrinkflation? old design held up too well?? anyway I remember paying around the same price of $7 so thought it was exactly the same.

FWIW I have gone through several of these as the legs have bent. Wouldn't recommend

        • legs have been fine on mine. even after kicking them a few times while I got used to it being there.
because the frame is light weight the legs kind of get out of the way when you kick it too so seems to be not enough force to bend it.
same with Caped Baldy maybe both of you have a lot more heavier clothes (thick zip up jackets?) or are letting it pile up and squeezing more in. if it's much heavier I can imagine stitching coming apart or bending legs.

oh and maybe worth mentioning I don't put bedsheets in it. when it's time to wash the sheets I just carry all the bedding balled up in my arms to the laundry and wash just that in one cycle because nothing more will fit.

      • I use something similar but with a divider in the middle for whites and coloured clothing. Living in a smaller place, this thing is an amazing space saver, especially if you have folks coming around and you can just fold it up and put it out of the sight. I've thought a few times about getting something like a proper laundry bin because it does look nicer especially with a lid but I don't think it's as versatile as a fold up basket and for $100, it's a bit of a tougher sell for something that does the exact same thing.

        • yeah tbh having to empty those narrow bags on the J&J Tota seems like it's only ideal if unloading into a top loader.

For 3 plastic rimed cloth bags that fit inside a big plastic tub. Probably costs them $1 to make it. Crazy pricing

I'll save my $100 and continue to manually separate my laundry.

  • People still separate their laundry?

    • A.I will fix it in the next 5 years.

    • Useful if you have normal clothes and other clothes that get especially dirty (e.g. hivis/PPE)

  • +1

Damn, stinky cloths will stink more. These need to breathe.

  • Is this the same size as the two bin version?

    • I could be wrong there might be a two bin 90L.

but from what I saw on the page two bin is 60L, three bin is 90L.
