Heavy Rain PS3 $23 EB Games

280

So I've heard this game is quite good so seeing I keep my PS3 just for exclusives I thought id go on the hunt for a cheap copy of Heavy Rain. eBay was approx $25, Ozgameshop $25-$28 (depending on the version) Thought id give eb games a crack and low and behold it was $23! So far about 2.5 hours in and its quite epic!

  • I wouldn't bother using ps move on this, just Incase one tries (saves the update)

Really? I heard the Move controls for this were great. As if the controller were designed for it even.

      • Correct, it is so great with the Move :)

        • Correct? Each to their own

  • Difference between standard and Move edition?

    • +2

The Move edition lets you use the Move controller. It comes preloaded on the disc, while standard edition buyers will have to sit around while their game updates to include the new controls.

    • You can download the Move patch FREE from the PS Store. However it is a few gigs in size…

Whatever price you buy this at, trust me that it's worth every cent. It's one of the best thriller/crime stories I've ever experienced, and is cinematic to the point that it's an interactive movie.

  • As an xbox fanboy. I bought this game when i got a ps3, all i can say is wow. Amazing game, great storyline its seriously one of the best underrated games out there!

    • +1

Im the same.. I only buy PS3 exclusives all the rest are on the xbox. Defiantly a wow

      • Get Metal Gear Solid 4 then if you havent. Havent played HR but MGS4 is my faveourite game on ps3.

I see it's made by Quantic Dream. Is it as good/same type as Fahrenheit ?

    • +3

It's just as good if not better than the classic that is Fahrenheit in my most humble of opinions. If you enjoyed Fahrenheit, definitely check out Heavy Rain.

Thanks. I am getting a ps3 next week, so I can finally play mgs4 and gt5, i'll definitely pick it up.

        • You're in for a treat with MGS4 too. Masterpiece. GT5 I've never played, not my kind of game.
          Enjoy!

  • I've been waiting for this to pop up on Playstation Plus for the past year! C'mmmmmmmmon Sony!

i finished this game last week. i didnt use move, as i already sold it. (kinetic is far better than move, imo)
the game is a little boring. the graphic is not that great at all. it is overrated rather underrated.

imo, L.A. Noire is much better.

Kinetic? That sounds like fun. For now I'll just have to make do with my Kinect.

  • This is the only game my girlfriend liked watching me play. She even played half of it. I don't think I can say anything else that recommends it more.
There are definitely plot holes though.

  • in store only?

  • Not many store have them in stock…

  • It's always hilarious when the preowned copy costs more than new.

  • This game is very very very very I mean very slow, To the point it makes you fall asleep, But I agree the story line in it is awesome and one of the best ive seen, its let down on did I mention how slow it progresses! Only play if you got a lot of time to sit around being bored! takes you a long time to get from a to b etc and the player does not run ever!

    • Yes, very slow indeed; brilliant visually, the storyline and the choices you have to make are very compelling (and heart wrenching). Waiting for mundane dialogue or moving the character slowly is very painful. A nice change from a fast action game though.

Played on the standard version, no move here :)

  • I agree with most of the posts above, this is a must-own on PS3 IMO.

It's more like an interactive movie than a typical video game as-such, but I found it completely engrossing and the fact that it can play out in multiple ways increases replayability… I found myself online afterwards reading about all the things that could've happened, but didn't due to the choices I made throughout the game.

    JASON!

  • Although a tad OT, the makers of this game, Quantic Dream, are developing a new game (same genre as Heavy Rain) called "Beyond: Two Souls" which is to be released in 2013. Thought a few people might like to know as it looks really good going by the trailer.

  • Anyone remember Omikron: The Nomad Soul; possibly one the best (and certainly the most underated to due its limited release) games to come out in the late 90's. It was Quantic Dream's first game and set the tone for all their games to come. Even if they don't always hit the mark with the ratio of game to interactive movie, they are definetly something unique in the videogame world. Omikron had less 'quicktime' and movie elements and more freedom to change characters (up to 29 seemingly random characters throughout the world could be played)It also featured some awesome music from David Bowie, who appears in the game as himself, and also a AI-avatar - Boz.
