    Oooh BD headlamp for cheap? Scroll down your list and what?! Black Diamond what? Almond Flour? Huuhhh? Lol

  • Annoyingly, the charger isn’t included it seems?

    • +1

      It doesn't include the Lithium Ion BD 1500 battery or charger for that.

      It does come with 3 AAA batteries though haha.

    Sofirn SP40A Rechargeable Headlamp, 1200 High Lumen Max Flashlight with LH351D 5000K 90 High CRI LED Headlight, TIR Lens, with a Rechargeable Battery and USB Cable(SP40A-5000K-KIT) https://amzn.asia/d/0j8G16A1

    Much better value and much better light

      not only much heavier (230g vs 95g), it's also not waterproof :(

      • SP40A is IPX7, as waterproof as you'll need for wearing on your head. The rest is apples to oranges, but, it is much cheaper so I reckon the value is better.

        • SP40A is IPX7

          sorry but where is that stated, i can’t seem to find it on the listing?

          much cheaper so I reckon the value is better.

          much cheaper ≠ better value

          value = features/benefits vs cost

            @tonester: It's probably omitted on the listing. Sofirn tends to have incomplete listings for their products, as do most Chinese sellers. See water resistance here.

            value = features/benefits vs cost

            Yeah, and it's apples to oranges, but the SP40A is a good quality torch which has fantastic features for the price + comes with an 18650 which can be used by so many other products.

            The only reason you should buy the BD over the sofirn is if weight is a concern or you really need a red-light mode. I say that as someone who has used similar black diamond headlamps and the very sofirn headlamp in question for years at a time each for hiking and trail running at night.

            • @bananabendera: thanks, good to hear that you have experience with both, though i'm somewhat surprised that you'd prefer Sofirn over BD for hiking and trail running given apparent weight/fit/comfort difference - important to me, as are durability, light modes, battery type/flexibility, for those uses as well as camping

              • @tonester: Well I guess when I'm running/hiking it really helps to have the extra lumens + runtime to avoid stacking it or to spotlight wildlife and geofeatures. I'm one of the people that actually likes the strap running down the middle of my head because of the stability it adds, and I honestly don't even notice what's on my head after a couple of minutes. I only ever have my torch on my head or in my pocket, so weight there isn't a concern either.

                In winter if I'm camping and it's cold enough to drain Lithium batteries I tend to use something powered by NiMH, which is another area where the BD would edge out the sofirn.

    • If SP40A can last for 200 hours let me know. Also, there are a couple of reviews noting the brightness is not as advertised!

    • I'm sure this Black Diamond headlamp is pretty good for your average person, but it depends on your use case.

      If you're a 'flashlight' enthusiast I'm sure you'd almost certainly steer away from proprietary batteries and be more picky about colour temperature, CRI, efficiency of the driver etc.
