Watched this a few days ago. It’s aged better than I thought it might. Great film.

Probably the bust urban gun battle scene in movie history.

      • 100%
If this doesn't get the juices flowing, see a doctor

        • or somebody call the undertaker

    • The start of Den of thieves gun battle gives Heat a good run for its money.

  • I watched the documentary of the guy this is based on. Never watched the movie..

    • Cliff Scridloe? The man was a helluva Yahtzee player…

Don't let yourself get attached to anything you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you feel the heat around the corner.

      An ad for immodium

Roger Van Zant: What are you doing?
Neil McCauley: What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone.
Roger Van Zant: I don't understand.
Neil McCauley: 'Cause there is a dead man on the other end of this fuc*in' line

      Just saved me $20

I remember them using the gunfight scene to advertise the advantages of DVD audio over VHS audio.

    • +2

I saw this at the cinema when it came out and that scene was full-on.

    • +1

      That would've been mint.

My once in a lifetime experience was with T2 & THX demo on laserdisc.
Just 2 young punks walking down a Frankston backstreet, see some small weird "shop" with big speakers, small couch, not a lot more, put our faces to the glass. The fella inside opens the door, tells us to come inside, and prepare to chase the dragon for the rest of our lives (so to speak)

One of my all time favourites, bank shootout was awesome

  • Great scenes with Di Nero and Pacino. Love this film.

  • It's a Michael Mann move so not sure how you're getting the Snyder Cut reference, either way great movie!!!

  • Thanks OP 👍

One of the best action movies of all time. The gunfight scene and Pacino-Deniro conversation at the restaurant are classics.

US bluray, may only worked in unlocked bluray players.

    • +2

4k Bluray disc is region free

      • We all know that, I am referring to the additional bluray with the extras -_-

  • +4

this is a proper film boys back when they made them not like the marvel superhero garbage

    • +1

Yeah lads, I only watch proper kino directed by Christopher Nolan (most intense space docking scene in sci-fi history), Denis Villeneuve (one of, if not the most intense sitting in car scene in the kistory of kino), Park Chan-wook (possibly the best one-shot hammer hallway scene in cinema history), Alfonso Cuarón (probably the most intense one-shot car scene in movie history), Nicolas Winding Refn (best synth-wave OST and I think there's also a hammer that's pretty intense), early John Woo (best shooting with 2 guns at same time scenes), Quentin Tarantino (most intense Christoph Waltz sitting at a table scene), Darren Aronofsky (probably the most crazy fridge and butt stuff scenes in movie history), Ridley Scott (probably the best helicopter falling down scene ever), and David Fincher (best clicking F5 on laptop scene of all time).

And Moon (1994) which is the most intense moon movie of all time.

      • +2

This is so layered. Enough that I know you know your stuff. So layered I can't tell if you're being ironic.

        • +1

Zack Snyder makes serious, gritty, dark and intense superhero movies like the misunderstood Batman v Superman, you really have to watch the Ultimate Cut to understand his vision. Then the theatrical version of Justice League got butchered by Joss Whedon who directed The Avengers (yuck, too well lit and too many jokes). Luckily he was able to finish the masterpiece that is the 4 hour Snyder Cut (which has the most intense Flash running fast scene in movie history)

      • The average millennial male who enjoys movies for the guys

        • +1

The Hurt Locker has some of the most intense bombs not going off scenes in cinema history. But Kathryn Bigelow was married to James Cameron (most intense naked Arnold scene in movie history) so she probably got most of her talent by learning from him.

          • @rosebank: That’s all good and well, but who can we turn to for the most intense rodent of unusual size scene of all time?

  • -1

All 4k Discs are region free (everyone should know this by now)
The Additional Bluray is NOT 4k and will most likely be region locked to United States.

    • Honestly a lot of people still consider Blu-ray "too new and fancy".

Don't overestimate the the power of ignorance.

    • +1

@Damonator84 - There are too many people like yourself that aren’t very educated with regards to region locked releases. You’re 100% incorrect about the 1080p Blu-ray in this U.S. 4K+BD set of Heat being region A locked, it’s a region free disc, and you’re also incorrect with your assumption that the additional 1080p Blu-ray that comes with North American releases are likely to be region locked. You certainly need to learn about each individual U.S. studio/distributor, some generally region lock their releases and some don’t, once you understand that and have that knowledge it’s very easy to know what’s likely safe to buy and what’s not if region locking is a problem for you. Although it wouldn’t be a problem at all if you just bought yourself a region free compatible player, I have 4 region free Blu-ray players in my home, I bought my first region free Blu-ray player in 2010.

  • Gotta listen to Stem (Cops 'n' Robbers) now.

  • best bank robber movie and best themes/feels specially night shots over LA with the music playing, music in a movie hands down right up there with the dark knight/interstellar IMO also you can watch it on stremio same quality lol

  • I got this when JB first had it about a year or so ago? Disappointing 4k disc. Picture is pretty grainy.

    https://www.avforums.com/reviews/heat-4k-blu-ray-review.2001…

    • General vibe of the review is same picture, but same audio

      • So this release is essentially the same, but not different?

    • The cool crowd say to preserve grain and not make the skin look waxy by removing it.

Not sure I care either way tbh

  • +1

Thanks OP. I think I might be too attached to it owning this though. I wouldn't be able to walk away from it if I felt the heat around the corner so I'm going to have to pass on this bargain.
