DRAGON QUEST XI S [XSX, XB1] - $4.80 AU (106.80₺) XBOX Store Turkey (and steps on how to do this easily on your AU Xbox)

200

Hi there, I'm not sure if posting prices in other countries is a deal, but I looked for info on if buying from the Turkish store (for my Australian account) was still possible and couldn't find any info, so hopefully this helps others (As I really wanted to play Dragon Quest with my son, but it's around $50 on the AU store and I wasn't sure if he was going to like it, for $4 AU that sounds like a better deal)

Short story, yes, you can buy from the Turkish Xbox store (when logging in with your Australian account) and buy games fine without any credit card, if you use a Turkish Xbox Gift Card (I got mine here: for $14 - https://www.eneba.com/xbox-xbox-live-gift-card-300-try-xbox-…)

My steps:
1. Bought a 300 TRY Xbox Card (around $20 with fees)
2. Used a free VPN to change my location to Turkey (I used a Surfshark 7 Day trial)
3. Logged into the Xbox website using my Xbox AU details
4. Bought the games I wanted (all the Final Fantasy ones are hugely discounted too)
5. Chose - Use gift card balance as the payment method
6. It asked me to change my address to a Turkish one (I just used a address generator website for the details)
7. Item bought with no issues (I then changed my address back without issue and could keep buying from the Turkish store using the remaining credit)
8. All games downloaded and played fine on my Australian XBOX and account.

Hopefully this is helpful for others wondering if you can still do the same.

  • Daft question perhaps, but I only have Xbox for PC. I recall Microsoft talking up the ability to play its games on multiple systems - does that extend to PC as well in this case?

you need to check on the shop if under capabilities it has "play anywhere" or check the list of play anywhere titles then they will work on both pc and xbox.

  • I believe you can only change your xbox location once every 6 months, so consider if it's worth setting your location to Turkey for one game.

    • Change the location using VPN, not ms account

Didn't it ask you to change your address to a Turkish one… wouldn't this update your account?

        1. It asked me to change my address to a Turkish one (I just used a address generator website for the details)
        • Is this the same as setting your Xbox region? Or more of a billing thing?

          • @snoopydoop: On my account, I just said I lived in Turkey rather than Australia, on the website. If I didn't do that, it kept saying the code was from another region.

For what it's worth to all,
I didn't get told about any number of changes I could do. I didn't get told anything. My MS Rewards points were both still there AND I could earn more while signed in to Turkey, where in the day MS Rewards would always shit the bed if the region didn't line up. Seems as though it's even easier than ever based on this, to swap regions temporarily.

    • Another approach is to create a new account in Turkey region. Buy using that account and leave your main account untouched.

Great game with tons of content. Recommend.

Thought I'd give it a go for the shit of it to see if it's as easy as it used to be. $19.14 AUD later and I've got almost a dozen more games I don't need.

Picked up the original Modern Warfare trilogy because of how annoyingly overpriced they are in Australia (already have MW1 and 2 remastered but honestly the file size is poopoo for every time I want to go play All Ghillied Up), the Arkham trilogy bc why not I only own them on PS3 and Steam already, Terminator Resistance complete edition, already own the game but wasn't going to pay what they wanted for the DLC, I got a discount as a previous owner but it was still around 40 bucks from memory, the discount carried over to Turkey and I paid 25 TRY for it, very agreeable price and keen as a bean to jump back into that, Brutal Legend bc I never actually finished it on PS3 and I'll consider it a political donation to Jack Black at this point, Sunset Overdrive bc why not it was fun and I never finished it, goddamn (profanity) Ms Pacman bc that was all the change I had left for after buying dun dun dun duuuuuuuun, the stupid ass Lord of the Rings: Gollum game which may actually be fun, idk, but I'm fine with the price.

All in all, for under 20 bucks I got a DLC I'm VERY excited to play, a Gollum game I'll happily burn through, Modern Warfare 3 to put on the Series S (I like survival mode and my disc obviously doesn't work in the S, and the emulated Wii version needs to be connected to defunct servers to play survival), and a bunch of other shit. Very happy OP, good job.

    • From Xbox Game Pass Ultimate: 36M ₺1034,72/~A$60 (+ Fees) @ Microsoft Turkey (No VPN) deal, I created a separate account to do it and had been buying cheaper games from M$ Turkey store. It used to allow AU credit cards, but now, it must be a TR credit card (or gift card credit).

To find some current deals, use the standard XBox Web AU URL and change "en-AU" to "tr-TR". For example:

      https://www.xbox.com/tr-TR/games/browse/ultimate-game-sale
      https://www.xbox.com/tr-TR/promotions/sales/sales-and-specia…

For example: RDR2 for XBox is ~186₺ ($8.42 AUD). Pity I bought it from AU store years ago.

However, you need to add 20% to the price shown on screen (because VAT is 20%, basically Turkey GST is 20%) + the fee and conversation ratio overhead when buying the gift card. Microsoft adds the VAT (20%) at the checkout phase, unlike AU store where it shows you the price including GST right away. On occasions, some games can be 80-90% cheaper than here.

      • Yeah, some of the games on there were crazy cheap. Shame most of the newer ones have, like Game Pass, been bumped up significantly. I still intend to buy GTA6 entirely with MS Rewards points (got about 50 bucks loaded at the moment casually) but if it wasn't for knowing the price will likely be quite high, I'd just hop over to Turkey and back.
