Any Thoughts on This Tesla Certified Preowned MY20 Model 3 for $32100?

Link to the car I'm looking at:

EV are dropping in price fast… what about second hand? If this car is $32K, I wouldn't imagine it drop any further?

Any thoughts on Tesla certified preowned car condition? I read some online articles that the car isn't even detailed (cleaned) during delivery.

*Update

Wait wtf wtf wtf. All the <$40K Preowned Tesla are sold out WTF? In both VIC and NSW. Is this post the best sale post ever? Like did I just help Tesla sold 10+ Cars in 1 day?

MG4/BYD Dolphin would beg to differ.

Tesla's had a stranglehold on the market as they were the cheapest/decent EV on the market in 2020.

2024 is a completely different story. A plethora of chinese ev's are saturating the market. The price can and will go a lot lower, especially with almost new MG4's going for $30k with a 7 year warranty.

'Certified preowned' is just marketing BS that means they've done a PPSR amd it's not written off. Amy 'comprehensive checks' theyve done are as little as checking theblog book for services and had an apprentice look underneath it.

Can confirm. Had to prep many a car for “certified pre-owned” and it was basically, are all the recalls and service actions carried out? Is it a one owner car? All services up to date? No registered accident damage? Chuck it up on their hoist and have a Quick Look, send it to the retailers for a clean and polish.

If Tesla are selling their own used cars at $32k~ish, it makes you wonder what all these other drugged up Musk flavoured kool-aid sipping morons are doing over on Carsales offering theirs at $40k+

      I like that…

They're holding onto the hope that Covid 2024 will hit and magically make their cars appreciate in value.

The car will be next to worthless in three years, even earlier if the price cuts keep coming on new models. Factor that in and the rebates for buying new and I think it’s overpriced

Seems pretty good for a used car honestly.

  • Given that Tesla can't be bothered giving it a clean before taking photos is kinda telling in how much of a F they give. But 1 year warranty, high KM, it should be under $30K I reckon

    • Honestly given the world's worst lighting situation there is no way to see any detail - all those reflections and lights all over the place make it hard to tell if it's light or scratches or dents or dirt.

I reckon it's a stock photo for when that model was adverised advertised new.

            I see your point.

The lighting is horrid. I wonder if it's on purpose to hide the condition, on some photos it does look a bit tired.

Dunno, but I think they say to never attribute to malice which can be explained by incompetence.

@iDroid: True, some photos aren't even properly in focus. Embarrassing.

  • btw, is a Tesla a good car for an average user considering depreciation due to battery life etc ? It has higher initial cost + charging cost and would be it equal to ICE car + fuel cost, if you don't do high mileage anyways, like only home-work ~10000 km per year.

Youre going to get a few different types of answer.

      1. Tesla fanboi: perfect car nothing else is as good. Totally awesome youll bever go back to regular cars once you touch a tesla.
      2. EV proponent: there are possibly better value EVs around without the whole tesla fan vibe but the tesla is a very good package that will last long enough and be cheap to run if you can charge at home.
      3. EV hater: dOnT eV3n ThiNK @bOUt iT! The battery will need replacing for forty gazillion dollars at the end of the week. Itll be scrap value only after 100,000km. And you cant go anywhere because youll run out of charge and if you want to charge it takes 14 days and if you take your eyes off it while charging itll burst into flames and burn down half the city.
        1. Musk hater
        • Missed that one.

Musk hater: tesla are built poorly and are mobile data miners. Theyve stuffed too much in software when buttons are simpler to operate while driving - and dont get me started on full autopilot will be here next year, 'pay up now and your car will drive itself' when the software is ready 'real soon now'

    "Drive Away Price $33,080
    Est. 5-year fuel savings -$4,500
    Price after est. savings $28,580
    "
ha ha ha, so they only expect it to last five years?

@Nugs - Most likely it's due to lease lengths being maximum 5 years or majority of people changing cars within 5 years.
