Are These Badminton Racquets from AliExpress Legit?

I play badminton as a recreational sport. I'm wondering if the rackets on AliExpress are legitimate. I'm looking for a fairly balanced racket. My choice is the Yonex Arcsaber 11. I've found that the price listed on AliExpress is one-third of the retail price in Australian online stores. Is it a legitimate racket listed in AliExpress, or is there a good chance it's a counterfeit?

Sold by Abby Sports Store with a 90.8% Positive Feedback.

Just look at their 1 Star Reviews

Considering they are close to A$300 retail, I doubt they are genuine.

    they are racquets

Lots of reviews for other items they are selling claiming they are fakes

If it is coming out of China then 99% chance it is counterfeit.

      • What does this mean?

My collection of Yonex badminton racquets all came from Cashies

      Why the downvotes?
Can there be hidden damage on a racquet? Or is it just a restring?

      • I was just flagging an alternative low-cost source, but many people do have an aversion to pre-owned stuff

        • There's probably also people who will neg you just for shopping there, because according to some people cash conveters are "scumbags".

@Some Human: They're tough as buyers but on the other side I find them to be a highly reputable retailer.

            • @sumyungguy: They are the equivalent of 'the local fence'. They buy & sell stolen goods.

            • +3

@sumyungguy: "Our Small Personal Loans incur a 20% Establishment Fee and a 4% monthly fee, based on the amount borrowed. Our Medium Personal Loans incur a $400 establishment fee and interest at 48% per annum. Our Line of Credit product does not incur an establishment fee and interest is at 48% per annum."

20% establishment fee and 60% annualized interest rate for a small loan. That is scumbag behaviour.

              • @Cluster: yep they should be ban from australia

                • @CyberMurning: Sure, blow up the whole payday loans sector. Where else will the financially vulnerable source emergency funds?

              • @Cluster: Surely The only people who need to take a loan from cashies are people who were rejected by the bank or less dodgy lenders. For high risk, I'd expect high reward too.
                They're not a charity.

As real as the Gucci bags on AE

    A racquet racket

  • There's no doubt that getting racquets direct from where they're made should be cheaper. No local importer or retailer to feed. But the chances of getting fake goods from Aliexpress are really high.

Have you tried an esablished Yonex retailer in China and whether they'll ship a genuine product to you?

Only if the seller is stealing it out of the factory or the factory is doing something behind the brand's back.

There are defo fake rackets in the market -
I've bought fake yonex and victor rackets before - so it isn't brand specific either.

My 2c, buy from a local shop, so you get the local 3-6month 'warranty' incase the racket breaks.

If $$$ really is an issue, try buying 2nd hand, or buy genuine 2nd tier brands like Felet, forza etc.

  • since this thread is about badminton, What shuttlecocks are you guys using, and how much are you paying?

  • Top and popular model of badminton rackets, will have lots of imitations. This is quite likely the case.
If you’re only going to spend 1/3 price of top rackets, I’d rather you get entry level rackets from local retail.

  • Probably counterfeit … but … perhaps … are they any good regardless??
    Only ~$80 will tell.

    fake racquet for sure.

you are better off buying a real Arc11, Arc7 or Astrox 77 Play from a local shop, if you are playing recreational/beginner level, the Play racquet is better for your skill level.

Pro racquets are a lot harder to play and without the right technique, will cause injuries to your wrist, arm, shoulder, elbow, etc.

  • Thank you all for sharing your thoughts. It was helpful to take my decision.
