The AMG luxury SUV of hiking sleeping mats (or the AMC Pacer of home mattresses). Enjoy a cosy sleep on ice at under 500g. Perfectly timed deal to get one use in during the 9 day snow season in the Aus alps.

Cheapest I've seen new gen model in Aus, although perhaps the price tracking aficionados among you will correct me. 'Ha there's no way I'm dropping over $260 on an inflatable air mattress when I can get 11 Aldi yoga mats and 7 Rivers sleeping bags for $199.95'. Yes, well done, but maybe this product isn't for you?

Personally I'd pay (I did pay) the <$20/130g extra for the L version to have a bit more room to toss around.

Some similarly good deals on the normal, yellow, lower insulation XLite model

I was about to buy the Exped Ultra 5R when I saw this. Similar price, similar weight, but warmer than I’ll need and the legendary Thermarest reputation. Good find.

Amazon also have FlexTail Gear pumps on sale if you want more luxury.

    • Nice re FlexTail, might get one for lazier trips. The schnozzle thing is not so nice to use. I was also looking at the Exped 5R when buying snow hiking mat back in 2021, they are super comfy. But I'm happy that I went with the xtherm. I since gave away my summer Klymit mat and use the xtherm even for warm temp stuff. It doesn't seem to get 'hot', just doesn't let through the cold. I have the older version, the newer one has an even higher R rating. But I imagine it would be the same.
