Following, also curious.
For one thing, this is AX1800 whereas the TP Link is AX3000
AX1800 are 574Mbps at 2.4GHz plus 1,201Mbps at 5GHz
AX3000 speeds are to 574Mbps at 2.4GHz and 2,402Mbps at 5GHz.
https://www.androidcentral.com/tp-link-ax3000-vs-ax1800So in terms of speed, unless you have a mega-fast connection, your router is unlikely to be the bottleneck.
ASUS make rock solid products and software support lasts a long time. I have been using their routers for years and refuse to buy anything else. This is coming from someone that’s gone through all the major brands.
Agree 100. Currently using AX82U. Their mobile app is world class. Very handy for parental control. Just thinking to buy this to create mesh wifi. Unsure if they will work.
Do not hesitate. I did what you’re thinking of doing with a AX86U per my comment below and can’t be happier.
@Maths Debater: Thanks 👍
@Maths Debater: Are you using these as wired nodes? With my current setup, I can't hook wire them (flat roof)
@akplayer: Wireless 🙂
@Maths Debater: Thanks again
I pulled the pin and got them today. Connected both to my AX-88U no problem at all….
According to this review the Asus has more features:

in for mesh router too. this is older version and dont have many features. Deco X50/55 seems to be best of bunch ~300.
I just got the deco x50 pro and had it connected to the 2.5gig wan and Lan port of my PC on a 1gig fttp plan. I get 940 down and 48 up. Speeds were fine but gaming was not unplayable but there was constant stutter. I'm talking Topspin 2k25 1v1 so not like 64 connections in battlefield.
If you google deco "gaming lag" you'll see a ton of results. It doesn't matter what model, the decos all seem to have the same problem. I put my crappy $99 Asus ax54hp back in and the problems were gone. I kept trying with the deco x50 pro because the 2.5gig wan/Lan is great value, but the experience wasn't. Returned it today. I've picked these up now and everything seems to work fine. In reality these are really just a ax54hp 1800 in smaller form with a node. Supposedly a better CPU in these as well.
Great price. Only buy this if you intend on using them as nodes/satellites. I paired these up with my RT-AX86U and getting some wild speeds all over the house.
is this not good enough as a router? thinking to get a 3 pack. TIA
I initially setup the 2-pack without my AX86U and wasn’t very impressed with the speed and coverage. If I was going to use it as a router, I would spend the extra $100 on the XD5: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/asus-zenwifi-xd5-wi-fi-6-…
Mind you, you may not experience this problem with the 3-pack. It depends on what your budget permits.

How is Asus compared to the latest TP link deal that went out of stock? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/855863
