I remember when these only came in MB now they have TB options,

    • +7

I remeber using 16mb card using on my Nokia & listen to all 4 songs on loop

      • +1

I remember paying hundreds for a 1 giggerbyte HDD, and being angry it only had like 920 meggerbyte or whatever.

        • +1

You're not being shorted like a lot of people think.
But instead of trying to explain it in a comment, you should Google why "SD cards show less than advertised" (which of course is the same for hard drives, SSD and USB)

          • +8

@pitythekid: Technically you are being shorted. It's just that the marketing standard is universal.

      • What year?

    • +1

I have a 256MB in my USB drive 'box' but it's full size SD.

Smallest MicroSD I have is 2GB.

Probably don't need this to upgrade from my 1TB mSD that I got for $90~ at the last Prime sale.

      • +2

        do it

      • +2

This one is at least 50% better than your 1TB

      • Smallest microSD I have is 512MB

    • What a time to be alive!

  • +3

Appears to be all time low and additional 6% off if you get two bringing it down to about $129.79 each (limit of 2 per Amazon customer)

    • +5

This. If you can find a cheap item on the 6% off list, you'll maximise that saving even more.
Example: Adding this box of 36 chew bar candy (currently $11.51 (50% off) and eligible for 6% off) gives a total of $140.61 for candy and card.

  • Nice!

Guess I’m returning the 1tb I bought earlier today. Thanks op!

    • +4

1tb should have a higher write speed if that makes a difference. The 1.5tb is a bit slow for me

      • +1

Hmm both are san disk ultra and seem to be spec the same…it’s only for my ultra tablet so I don’t the fastest speeds anyways …

        • You referring to Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 or S9 Ultra ? I thought thy only support a maximum of 1TB microSDXC cards ? Or has that changed recently ?

          • @GameBunny: what if they just say that.

            microsd card specification support 2tb.

we just don't hvae it existing lol

          • @GameBunny: Samsung site says the s9 ultra supports all micro sd cards so I think it’ll be right, the max limit is only a marketing thing for the limit at the time

  • Too slow for steam deck?

    • Searched reviews on Amazon for steam deck and they are all positive. I'll bite the bullet:

      https://www.amazon.com.au/SanDisk-1-5TB-microSDXC-Memory-Ada…

    • +2

Game load times won't be impacted. Installing games will be a bit slower but I think most people won't care as long as the game load times are fine

    • +1

I use one in a steam deck works fine!!

    • Man I cant wait for 8TB to be a thing for SD cards, havent even got half my library on the SD with the 1TB card ive got now and its full , really want to get into emulation as well but cant.

  • can these be use for dash cams?

    • +2

Write speech is slow + not endurance enough.

    • +2

My dashcam only supports upto 128gb, so check your before you buy

  • +1

    Damn son!!!

    • Phew, 1.5TB in a tiny microSD card.

  • +1

    Perfect for a switch 2

  • Any CB available?

  • +1

I'm broke as bro, but I'd better buy this for my modded Switch. Finally upgrade from the 500GB that's in there. I'll put the 500GB in my Analogue Pocket.

    • u do not need 1.5tb of switch game surely?

i have 512gb on my sdcard but honestly i play <5 switch games.

i haven't 'broken free from.the jail 'on that switch yeat though or on my genv1 which won't need modchup since oled model is yk the main system w online supports.

      • +1

All the first party games and Pokemon variants alone could probably fill 1TB at least.

      • +2

I have an unmodded oled and I can tell you it is very possible to exceed this. I'm constantly having to delete games from my 1tb, so have had this on my wish list for a while now.

  • Can I get a tax refund for purchases on Amazon?

    • +1

      Yes and no..
they automatically include an invoice if you purchased thru amazon au and the seller is amazon.
If the seller is 3rd party, you’ll have to ask for the invoice but more than likely the seller won’t even be in Australia and in this case they won’t have an abn on the invoice.
Edit: i thought you asked about TRS sorry. Not sure about tax return. But i think it is ok to claim it.

      • Thanks for the info! I was indeed asking about TRS, sorry for the confusion. Cheers!

  • Could I use this instead of a portable SSD drive? Mainly for storing photos that I’d be editing in Lightroom on a Mac.

    • Yes, you can but it may be too slow for that purpose.

  • Sweet, one last upgrade for my Switch! Now, what to do with my 1tb… Might throw it into the Steam Deck or MiSTer.

  • This is pretty much the ATL price on Amazon US

    https://camelcamelcamel.com/product/B0CJMRW771

83.59 USD is 124.19 AUD, plus the 10% GST

    • also plus the cost of US prime membership or else end up as A$162.8 at the checkout with shipping and other fees

  • this is bananas to me. what's the failure rate on these compared to a SSD? whats to stop me chucking one of these in my NUC permanently to host movies on plex?

    • +1

These are the write once read many times kind of storage. Pretty much so you can carry all your games on switch, movies/tv/music on your phone etc.

You can use it on a NUC, but if you got a free m2 slot, or a usb port, just get a proper drive. You get these cards for the form factor, and you don't need it in a NUC.

      • ive got 1.5tb total across a sata ssd and a m.2. would have to swap out the 500gb sata drive and replace with something bigger to upgrade. but if i could pop in a microsd and up that to 3tb? for $138?? well, that's irrelevant now cos it's sold out lol

  • Seems to be out of stock with Amazon US. Now only showing Amazon UK for 177

  • +1

    Rats I missed it :(

  • Perfect for popping in my recently acquired GL.Inet router to share Linux ISOs when travelling.
