Hair Clippers for Number 0 Cut

Looking for recommendations for hair clippers for my husband and teenage son. They only ever want a Number 0 all over their heads. My husband cuts his own hair and he cuts our son's as well. He would prefer a corded version. Preferably under $100, although a little over is ok if it will last many years. The cheap one that we bought from Coles lasted only a couple of months. Thanks.

  • Why corded? Some of the cordless are awesome these days. Plenty of power and only need recharging every 4th or 5th cut.

Are you married to Walter White?

      WAHLter White?

  • Get a good wahl set.

I've been using mine for a few years.

    • Which Wahl model are you using?

      • I think it's this one, you can check them out at Shaver shop before buying.

You can feel the difference in weight and quality, stainless steel & strong, reliable motors.

I also got a cheaper cordless set as it's easier to cut my kids hair but I much prefer the corded.

    Wahl all the way.

  • Return of the bovver boys?

  • For doing his own hair, I'd rate the Remington Rapid/Turbo cut style as (been using the older style for years, and with its current price on amazon, just bought the new one)
    eg $87

$82 with the price beat button at the good guys if you need it quicker and its convenient to pickup.

      • Remington Rapid Ultimate $87.19 or Wahl Professional Taper 2000 $84.64? (both Prime Day Deals)

My Remington still holds charge after 8 years.

For a simple #0 cut, Remington. It's much easier using on yourself than standard clippers also.

If you doing different lengths id likely go the wahl

I’ll second the Remington recommendation from @SBOB. I love my first gen one

US made wahl has better quality blades. Remington is infinitely easier to use, esp if you cut your own hair

I own a both a Remington rapid and a Wahl V5000. I haven’t touched my Wahl chorded clipper since getting the Remington (5 years so far). No issues with holding charge (used once or twice a fortnight). Remington cuts closer and more consistently. If you keep it really short it is better for playing with lengths. I use the 1.5mm, 2mm and 2.5mm combs the most.

    • Would love to know how this one compares to the series 1

    • Thanks for your help SBOB. I purchased the Remington Rapid Ultimate.

Do you oil your Remington before each use? Do you use sewing machine oil or something else?

  • As above, generally anything from Wahl is great quality. I bought some for $100 or so about 6-8 years ago and still going strong, no idea which model.

  • Kmart, was about $35. Have been using it for 2 years without fault.

  • Pretty happy with this model: https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B0864YV9P1. Solid reviews, standard brand and it's regularly on a special price on Amazon.

  • Note there are two Wahls The Wahl consumer stuff you can get at the shaver shop, Kmart etc that are not great, avoid these, motors are loud, get hot, blades are low quality and the clips are not good. The Wahl pro are much better, these are the ones barbers use.
I have had many clippers over the last 30 years. My current pair is the cordless Magic Clip but I didn’t pay the $250 on their site. Can get better deals from the online salon suppliers.

Had mine over two years, used weekly, charged maybe 4 times. Just starting to miss some hairs so might need new blades.
Previously had the Wahl legend which was also great but had to give it up when I moved (was 110v) version.
Had an earlier version of the Remington that is recommended above. Initially it was fantastic nice close cut, curved blade is good but it just didn’t last, battery was terrible, after about 6 months had to run it plugged in and it still ran slow.

  • Mother was into dog grooming and showing.

Heavy Duty, lasted for 10+years, so that is your best bet for corded.

A tad more expensive than human hair ones, but if you want one to last.

I still have and fire up two here that are near 20 years old.

  • I have a Wahl corded clipper that would be over 35 years old. Just a plastic bodied one but built like a tank. I expect it will outlive me. It would be nice to have a cordless clipper but this it works fine.

Had a Remington one before that but it was junk.
