Akko Fairy Switch (45 Pcs)
Type: Linear
Operating Force: 50gf ± 5gf
Total Travel: 3.3mm
Pre-Travel: 2.0 ± 0.5mm

A linear switch with silicone dampeners inside to reduce the noise of the switches. This would reduce the noise of the mechanical keyboard significantly if you are after something that's quieter and usable at work (though, I would highly recommend modding the keyboard with foams and lubricate the stabilisers, to reduce undesirable noises further).

Youtube review

While this isn't the most cheapest option available (and cheapest option is bit of a difficult topic with switches as there are different models of switches available out there), I am posting this as a deal as switches that are locally available from easily accessible vendor at cheaper price than before the Prime Day.

If you prefer to grab switches from somewhere slightly cheaper, Aliexpress could be an option (they only had one currently available) AKKO Official Store @ AliExpress, A$18.77 (US$12.23) + GST. I didn't post that as an option as it doesn't meet the guideline.

  • How are the Akko V3 Creamy Purple Pro or the Matcha Green? Also noticed on sale

    • Akko switches are good for the price that they are asking, generally speaking.
A youtube review of AKKO switches that include the models that you were asking about.

The only comment I will make is, there are a lot of options out there for linears and tactiles, so ymmv in terms of your experience.

    • The matcha green listing looks old, they don't even sell those anymore on the other platforms.

Not sure if you would get them or the newer v3 pro with the box stems if you ordered.

    • i had matcha's, meh. nothing special.

  • I have these sat on my desk, awaiting my Akko 3098B Plus arrival from Ali. I got 3 packs from Ali for $65.60 delivered but this is still an excellent price for local stock.

  • grab a pack of penguin this morning, see how it goes then maybe grab this later.

    • I couldn’t find them cheap when I was looking recently so got these but have Outemu silent whites in another board (Royal Kludge RK98) and love them so decided it might be better to stick with linear. Hope I’m right. If you’re looking for quiet though, either should work.

  • Waiting for some Kailh Whale Silent tactile to arrive, probably tomorrow. This key board, switch malarky isn't cheap. 😂

  • Do these need to be lubed, are already prelubed, or not necessary? New to this

    • I have heard that these are pre-lubed, but ymmv in terms of whether you want to re-lube them.

    • The correct answer depends on how much you're into the hobby and how bothered you are. Given that most people get hot-swap boards, I think a good starting point is to use them as-is, and if lubing is something you'd consider doing, at least you have a reference point.

    • They're lubed.

  • Does anyone know what is the successor for the Radiant Reds?
My favourite linear switches, but discontinued.

  • Can anyone give advice on what would be a good upgrade from MX Cherry Browns? A few switches have mine are double clicking so figure its a good time to upgrade to something a bit nicer, but so many choices. Thought the Akko Lavender Purples but looks more like a side upgrade.

    • I feel like, giving recommendations on switches can easily devolve into, here are the list of things that you may or may not enjoy at various prices.

TL;DR. Switches would feel different. I wouldn't call them side-grades unless the switches are specifically trying to mimic the force curve (which Akko's tactile switches do not seem to be). Whethere they are upgrade, I don't know what you like.

      • If you mean smoother typing feels (so that it doesn't feel scratchy), most switches would be an upgrade (Cherry MX switches are not known for smoothness and most switches nowadays come lubed).
      • If you mean quieter, things like Akko Penguin might be something you want to try (tactile switch with silicone dampeners), though silent switches tend to feel different to non-silent switches (they feel "mushy", as you basically are hitting silicone against plastic).
      • Tactility basically is that feel difference during your press (i.e. light switch has a tactile event, when you flick the switch, you feel sudden bump in the feel when the switch is activated). Cherry MX Brown is considered mildly tactile. The force graph that the manufacturers show tend to give you some idea on what it would feel like (the force difference, the travel distance etc). I tend to find that unless a switch is advertising mild tactiltiy or similarities to Cherry MX Brown (such as its colour), they would be vastly different. Cherry MX Browns and its mild tactiltiy kinda gave surgence to tactile switches with massive bumps. Different doesn't mean you'd like them more though.

AKKO CS Lavender doesn't look like a bad choice?

      • Thanks man good feedback. Perhaps I'll give the CS Lavender a go since they are 3-pin

        • 5 pins can easily be modded to be 3 pins (you can just use the clipper to remove the plastic pins)

        • i would consider upgrading if your keyboard is only has 3-pin, lol.

lots of great budget custom keyboards now a days.

  • I didn't get the fairys, i got 2 orders of the Akko V3 Piano Switches instead that came out cheaper for $19.99
they are amazing budget thoc monsters. use with pc or pom plate for maximum thoc.
i ended up buying 2 more boxes for future builds, and probably end up buy 2 more on the 21st, lol.
maybe will buy some fairys and build a work keyboard eventually, but dreading carrying a brick in my work backpack. lol

I ended up getting Akko V3 Blacks

    • Awesome, hope it is the upgrade you've been looking for (I feel like whether something is good or not really depends on the taste when it comes to switches).
There are so many weird little switches that you can try, like silent switches with different mechanisms, switches with ball bearings, or clicky switches that use unique mechanisms. At which point, it becomes a hobby and huge time investment (but I digress).

Reporting back - it's my first time using linear switches and I'm definitely liking it. It feels easier to type on without the tactile bump. Easier on the fingers. Loving the Black's

        • Good linears are hard to say no to.

Since it's a long pole switch (so middle bit ("pole" of the stem) is longer, making the travel shorter and changing the bottom out sound and feel), you might also like something like Gateron Pro Yellow that has full travel (slightly lighter force compared to MX Black, it's considered classic by many).

I impulse bought the matcha greens because my favorite color is green. Hopefully I didn't get the wrong one 😂. This is my first time buying switches.
