First post, wanting to pick up a budget projector for the occasional movie night and came across this.

Specs, true or not seem good and I'm happy with the price and reviews.

My only question before I pull the trigger is

  1. There anything better for that ball park of $300, for reference I'll be using this in a dark room against a white wall.

  2. A reviewer said he purchased this for $169 (AUD) with a $130 off coupon, how likely is this to reoccur if ever.

TIA

I don’t know if this particular one ever went that low. Or it was a different model and the seller reused the listing or something:

I have a 1080P projector that was $120 and it’s fine for casual viewing. Can’t comment about this model though.

I bought a Magcubic HY320 for $72 from Temu marketplace. The supplier said they weren't able to ship it, so they refunded me. It arrived the next day :)

      • Nice. Temu is taking cheap deals to a whole new level lol

The prices were cheaper prior to Prime Day for these budget projectors. There were some big coupon discounts going around, plus another 5 or 10%. They hiked their prices up today, trying to show it's been discontinued on that price, and removed the coupons.

I wouldn't recommended this model based on the reviews.

    Anything better

    check jayce's round up

dude's been doing affordable projector reviews for literally years and has an excel with a whole bunch compared.

if the room is like cave dark and you got a nice even white wall , pretty much anything will work at night.

the only thing to consider is you probably want external speakers at minimum as the fans will be running LOUD - not too bad if you turn it up but then you realise its actually really loud ..and you probably still cant make out the dialogue anyway - and budget for a google tv/ firestick , as most stock projector OS is trash, or has quirks like not supporting netflix (lol xgimi)

    • Woah! this is very helpful, thank you!!

  • I bought one of these about 9 months ago - and for the price I am extremely happy with it.

Yep your not going to use it in the day with the curtains open but honestly the picture quality for that price point I was very pleasantly surprised. Fan noise isn't too loud either. My only gripe was the sound coming from the unit so I bought a cheap soundbar and connected via bluetooth (no lag) and is all good now.
