Blackhawk Cards Apple Pay - Invalid Card

Anyone ever resolve the Invalid Card problem when trying to add Blackhawk prepaid cards to their Apple Wallet?

My main phone can't add any Blackhawk cards now. Other bank cards can still be added.

The same cards from Blackhawk can be added to my Apple Watch (from the same device) as well as the misso's iPhone.

Doesn't work via manual card entry and also via the My Card Wallet app which has a tokenised link to add the card directly.

  • mine was working after they fixed the error. have you tried a hard reboot? also the card maybe blocked. check the balance to see if you can access the card. If you cant you need to call them to unblock

    • Definitely not blocked, multiple cards, all can be added to Apple Pay on other devices. Hard reboot gave no joy.

What fix are you talking about?

      • there was an issue with blackhawk system but that was a few weeks ago

    • Yes I saw that. I was asking if anyone has resolved the issue

  • I have the same issue—I can't add Visa GC to Apple Wallet using my 15PM. The error message is: "Invalid Card. Check the information on your card and try again."

The leeway is to add this card using an old iPhone, for me is an iPhone 7. No clear explanation from Apple Support. They claimed they have received similar reported issue.

    • It's not an Apple limitation, it's on Blackhawk. Other cards add fine still

I was able to add 2 Blackhawk cards last night. I'm thinking there's a rolling (3 month? 6 month?) limit on cards

    • This is the response from the Apple customer support team. They escalated it to their internal team for further investigation and got back to me today:

      Hi xx,

I hope this email finds you well.

We are aware that you are having issues adding your BlackHawk card to your Apple Wallet. When adding the card, you will received an alert error “ Invalid card. Check the information on your card and try again.”

With our investigation and escalation, we we’re advised by our internal team this error comes directly from the Payment Network Operator ( PNO also known as Visa/Mastercard/etc and is caused by two scenarios:

The details are incorrectly entered on Apple Wallet or the PNO has not yet allowlisted this card as an “eligible for Apple Pay” Card.

It is important to understand that Apple does not accept/verify/decline any card and. Has no control over what cards are supported. Apple has no authority to override the financial networks decision regarding the card as PNO performs all the identity, security and fraud prevention vetting before card is approved.

We also understand that you have mentioned that there are no error messages when adding the card to other devices, but the ability to add a card to another device in no way makes any of this less valid. Each and every time a card is added to a device there are security checks and verification processes that must be passed in order for the card to be added. In this case the device is failing one of those checks and the PNO is flagging it and denying the card from being added.

We cannot speak on behalf of your card issuer, but at this point, we highly recommend to contact them again and discuss any further escalation on the PNO side.

      Hope this helps.

      Regards,

      xx
