Could Not Make Calls to Singapore with Boost Mobile

My wife, two kids and myself all have Boost prepaid plans on our phones, which include unlimited calls to international destinations including Singapore.

When I tried to make a call to a Singapore phone number yesterday, I got the following voice recording: "To connect, please enter the following the 3-digit number, followed by the # key. Sorry, I have not detected your response, please enter the following 3-digit number……" The second sentence follows the first sentence instantaneously. It does not wait for me to enter any number and does not capture any of my dialled number inputs. I tried calling other Singapore phone numbers, with the same problem. I tried my wife's and my 2 kids' phones also giving the same issue. My wife calls China using her phone and this is working.

I contacted Boost's Live Chat yesterday. Unable to solve my issue, the agent forwarded it to the technical department.

I don't encounter the need to enter a 3-digit number when calling Singapore numbers in the past. Does anyone have the same problems and if yes, how is this issue resolved?

  • Is this a number you call regularly? Have you tried calling any other Singapore numbers to see if they are working?

  • I have called 2 other Singapore phone numbers, with the same issue.

    • Have you tried calling from the rest of your familys phones?

      • Just saw yes. I'm not sure what to do.

  • I thought it might be problems of my Boost account or phone (Pixel 7) but the same issue was obtained with 3 other Boost accounts and phones that my wife and kids are using.

  • +1

Bit of an obvious question but you did dial +65 (or 001165) first?

Could also try dialling a different country number?

    • I tried both +65 and 001165. My wife made a call to China and this is working, with no request to enter a 3-digit number.

  • Have you tried calling something like Singapore Airlines??

  • I thought of trying to dial with another Phone App. Went to Google Play looking for another phone app and found that that there is an Update for the existing Phone App (Google) on my phone. After updating the Phone App, when making calls to Singapore, it no longer asks me to enter the 3-digit numbers. This is so strange. I didn't expect an older app will lead to such an issue.

  • However, last night I used my wife's iPhone to call a Singapore mobile number and was asked to enter the 3-digit number. This must be using Apple's phone app. Or maybe calling the Singapore Airlines' landline number +65 6223 8888 did help to resolve the issue? Now I have no problem calling a Singapore mobile number.

  • Received a call from Telstra that there is a network glitch affecting all Telstra customers making calls to Singapore. They have now fixed this glitch.
