The AW3423DW is 175Hz and has a G-Sync Ultimate chip. Not to be confused with the AW3423DWF (which is freesync and 165Hz)

Same deal as last year - I used that post as a template:

  • How much is the usual street price on this?

      This is not drugs

    • It can be had for around this price.

Bear in mind that there should be better/equivalents coming this year

      • Yeah one of the reasons I'm holding out is because there are suppose to be new/better monitors being released this year

  • How does this compare with the AW3423DWF for $1399?

The F does not have G Sync. This has the G Sync Ultimate chip. Otherwise I believe they are nearly identical.
I very much want this monitor, not the F, being that I have a decent Nvidia card . Just can’t justify the expense right at this time.

      • The F still does G-Sync over Freesync, just across a smaller range (48-165hz vs 1-175hz). Whether or not the other improvements from the G-Sync Ultimate chip are worth it (allegedly slightly better HDR tone mapping) is worth it too is in the eye of the beholder.

        • Definitely a compromise, may not be an issue for many but I’d much rather pay the extra 2 or 3 hundred and get the full GSync ultimate experience.

@ponchoau: You're kidding? You'd take no ability to update firmware, higher price, and only 10hz more refresh rate over a cheaper, newer and firmware-updatable monitor? I think you're misinformed.

If you get a DWF, go to the nvidia site and download the nvidia pendulum tech demo. In nvidia control panel, enable GYNC compatible mode, and under the Display menu at top check the box "GSYNC compatible indicator". Now run the tech demo and behold the smoothly swinging pendulum and confirmed GSYNC.

The DWF is the superior monitor. It's already had several firmware updates that improve various features. I have a Nvidia 3080, zero issues on the DWF.

@cerealJay: You are the one who is badly misinformed.
The AW3423DW not only has a significant advantage over the AW3423DW, but it has a significant advantage over every single OLED monitor for one simple reason: VRR Flicker.

The AW3423DW vastly outperforms every single OLED Monitor in VRR flicker.

              https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/dell/alienware-aw3423…

              • @Cmatthew: I don't have VRR flicker issues on my DWF, so it makes zero difference to me if the DW "outperforms" with that.

Even if you did have flicker issues, I'd rather have the DWF for potential firmware fixes to alleviate the flicker. Or just disable gsync and use vsync… or try other remedies like frame-capping etc. I'd stay away from the DW, it's old, not even Dell has stock.

                • @cerealJay:

I don't have VRR flicker issues on my DWF

                  This is simply not true.

It is objectively provable that all OLED monitors have the VRR flicker problem. It's one of the issues with the underlying technology.

                  • @Cmatthew: Please tell me more about what I do and don't have issues with.

                  • @Cmatthew: So oled vrr flicker is for all vrr tech? I've been wanting to get something like this or if heavens permit a 38 curved ultrawide oled monitor.

The burn in issues made me want to go dell since they seem to be very good unlike Samsung when people encounter issues.

The other thought is a bit of a non starter that comes with any tech, Wanting the better version, for example the brighter Samsung panel tech from a few years back.

I'll need to do some more thorough investigating by the sound of it.

There's a ton of reviews comparing the two. I bought the DWF a month ago for ~$1150 on the Dell website.

Same here, this deal really doesn't seem worth it at all compared to that price.

Same here, pretty happy with the DWF so far.
