Further $10 off with Zip.

Differs from the Ace model by offering more granular ANC and support for AptX Lossless to further improve audio quality, but it's perhaps a granular difference in bass extension and treble smoothness/detail.

This model represents one the first affordable xMEMS-based TWS IEMs, achieved in a dual driver configuration (dynamic driver for the bass), having ANC and additionally supporting Bluetooth LE Audio and thus LC3 codec - albeit not LC3Plus - as well as aptX Adaptive, AAC & SBC, while having IPX5 for sweat/spray resistance.

Gets 4 hours per charge with ANC (6 without) and 16 total in combination with the case (24 without ANC).

xMEMS tech will be kicking off even further in 2025 with a single driver ANC solution via xMEMS Cypress, but if you're after something now, enjoy!

  • anyone with thoughts on this?

does it really outperform samsung and apple in ANC for less price?

    • It is not better for ANC, it's better audio quality in the treble and mids, particularly after EQ.

      • ok thanks for clarifying.

        must have misunderstood another comment.

another earbud I know with advanced EQ is Nothing Ear (a) and (2) I think. I heard their phones aren't great but their earbuds are good.

        • I would have said the reverse about their products, as do most reviewers. In terms of detail and resolution, the Aurvana Ace 2 is arguably above the level of the Samsung Galaxy Buds2 Pro and the AirPods Pro 2nd gen, just not as strong with ANC. Their weakest point would be the quality of the bass due to dynamic driver used.

Another competitive option of a similar vein is the Moondrop Golden Ages, which is a fully planar option with ANC that focuses on tonal performance and resolution first and foremost.

Buds3 Pro that just released are probably a slight step again from all of these, subject to the execution of the planar driver in use and their ANC performance. Keep in mind this is for audio quality, not mic/call quality, but each will have plenty of recording samples with the strongest performers being the AirPods Pro and likely the Buds3 Pro.

oh really? bad earbuds, good phones? sounds like I didn't watch enough reviews then.

I remember watching one that said early Nothing Ear (1?) had some issues. but the newer ones were good reliable TWS that also often sounded great because of the advanced EQ which allows you to shape the sound very close to what you like.

            • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: Without looking into it further I would assume referral farming, or just people giving them a soft touch after putting them on blast for the OG and the 2nd version in its launch state. They have been taking on feedback, but they're not doing anything remarkable, usually not for the price either.

              • @jasswolf: ok didn't realise how special the Auvana Ace 2 is.

I thought Xmems was just marketing speak but just now realised Xmems is a different type of driver? https://xmems.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/Creative-Ace-2-…

doesn't look like anything I have ever seen. should have read more into it on the creative page.

yeah jsut wanted to point out Nothing buds have same advanced EQ ability are reliable, and are cheaper than both Airpods and Galaxy (which I assume both don't have any EQ).

                • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: Both have something around the lines of a 10-band EQ.

                  • @jasswolf: Airpods really? last time I checked all apple has is presets for sound. like Bass boost, Podcast etc.

there is a sound accessibility airpods setting I think I saw in a video, but it just has 2 or 3 more random preset options which you don't know what they even do (doesn't show any graph).

searching Airpods advanced EQ I get these 2 images in google. but these aren't the Airpods app, it's another 3rd party music app. 2nd one is Spotify not sure about the 1st one.

I assumed Galaxy is competing with Airpods so would do something similar.

                    • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: On iOS you can enter an audiogram in the accessibility settings.

                      • @jasswolf: hmm ok first time I have heard of it.

just a quick search found this https://www.idownloadblog.com/2021/10/11/create-audiogram-ip…

seems like creating an "Audiogram" is based on a test done on another app, so no actual customization? I mean you could run it a few times and pick the one you like most but doesn't look like you can actual adjust it yourself. (it just plays a sound and asks "is it too harsh?" "is it too quiet?)

did a search for the word "custom" doesn't seem to tell you you can customize Audiograms.

                          • @jasswolf: still not very clear from Apple. some screenshots and labels would have helped.

so you can tap and move those dots on the Audiogram? that would be custom EQ.

reason I’m so skeptical is it’s very un apple like to allow customisation. even AirPod Max’s don’t get custom EQ I think.

and Samsung likely copies Apple (or Apple copies Samsung both the same) because they are competing.

  • The latest Nothing Ear 2024 is also on discount at $214.50 via Amazon Germany and these are actually getting good reviews. Since they are close-ish in price I bought both of them to compare.

    • So far I'm impressed with the sound quality on the Aurvana Ace 2. I'd say it's at least equal to the Nothing Ear (2024) if not a tad better for my V shaped sound preference.

A slight downer for me is that when you connect with Bluetooth LE, calls don't work at all (Cannot hear or transmit). This makes the BLE feature kinda useless. Not sure if the issue is with the buds or with my phone (Samsung S24+) and I don't have other LE buds to test. Otherwise if you don't use LE they are fine, though the battery on these are not great compared to my other buds.
