Robot Vacuum - Best Bang for Buck

Hi all,

With Prime Day sales coming up, I’m considering getting a robo vac but haven’t done much research yet. There are so many brands out there!

Preferred features:

  • I'm under the impression that PA over 4000 is probably
    needed for good vacuuming results
  • Good mopping ability without streaks (I have new hybrid
    floating boards in the kitchen)
  • Self-emptying docking station (if within budget)

Budget: Ideally under $500, but willing to go up to $1200 for highly recommended models.

Any feedback on features or potential issues would be appreciated.

Cheers!

Get your significant other to do it.

With these 'jokes', is yours still with you?

I wasn't joking. This is how it is in our household.

  • Not lublublu

    • That bad? Any suggestions on other brands you've heard were good/ better?

      • absolute dog shit.
im sure others will disagree with me

none of them really last, the lublulu works, but its takes ages to charge, will run out of charge before it gets back to the base, will make new maps over the current map(making my house even bigger), will get lost in restricted areas and not exit them.
my ecovacs lasted 12 months, the cheap one before that lasted 12 months.

        • Jeez. That's gotta be frustrating to have gone through a few already and none lasting.

Check out the youtube channel vacuum wars

    • Had a quick glance at the vid with no sound. Jeez! The prices are out there for the good ones.

For the $500 budget, no auto-emptying for a good brand imo. Imo, the best brands are Roborock or Dreame at the high end. Maybe Ecovacs. As another person suggested, Vacuum Wars and other YouTube channels are indeed a good suggestion. IIRC the US channels seem not to include Dreame in many comparisons.

For a bit less than $500: I have a Q7 Max with no auto-emptying that I consider middle of the road. Q7 Max+ is a bit more (around $650 at the moment) and has auto-emptying dock for vacuum only.

To me, high end is high end if you want the proper auto-empty including mop cleaning and drying etc
-Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra — drying is separate I believe, older model, but some advantages over S8 Pro Ultra (current model, drying).
-S8 Pro Ultra (maybe replaced later this year by an S9 version) — note this one is meant to have a self cleaning dock that’s also easier to manually clean when the time comes.
-Robirock Q Revo slightly cheaper but similarly featured. Can’t remember what it compromises.
    -Dreame L10s (older)
    -Dreame L20 Ultra (newer)

In general for high end, they go on sale on OzB sometimes. I have an alert setup for “vacuum” to monitor, but I’m happy at the moment. If you’re gonna go high end — make sure the dock has mop cleaning ans mop drying imo, otherwise they can stink. Also self-cleaning dock. In general, expect to pay minimum of $1000-$1200 on sale, and $1600 to $2400 not on sale.

    • Really appreciate the very detailed info. Hopefully I can whittle it down to a couple of models and get something for a good price.cheers
