Claiming TRS with Handwritten Sales Tax Invoice from JB Hi-Fi

I just purchased an iPhone from JB Hi-Fi, however I forgot to tell them to include my name from claiming TRS purposes as its more than $1000.

The manager come and assisted me by pulling up a book with a Sales Tax Invoice form which he manually handwritten it himself. He guarantees that this should suffice for claiming TRS purposes. I'm still worried it might get rejected at the airport.

Has anyone had similar experience with a handwritten tax invoice whether it can be used for claiming TRS? I don't see any requirement for the tax invoice needs to be printed, it just mentioned:

Original tax invoices are required to process your claim. Photocopies, reprints and duplicates are not accepted and will result in that invoice being rejected.

  • As long as it has all the required info for a tax invoice (e.g. ABN) it shouldn't matter whether it is printed.

  • Yes that’s fine. Did the same two years ago.

But i also carry the printed invoice without name on it.

  • You’ll be fine. Done this before. Technically it is an original it is just handwritten

  • Thanks for the answers guys, now I'm more confident
