Recommend a New Washing Machine

So it looks like our Simpson 9kg Washing Machine that is only 4.5 years old is on the blink and we are up for another washing machine in about 10 years.

So it looks like our Simpson 9kg Washing Machine that is only 4.5 years old is on the blink, and we now require a new washing machine. We will be on our 3rd machine in the last 10 years.

After recommendations on large machines and brands. Not fused as to Top vs Front Load and had 2 x Top Loads prior. Open to changing to a Front Loader which are apparently more efficient.

I am looking at the 12kg plus range (currently at 9kg and looking for a little bigger). A family of 4 putting a load through almost daily.

I went to HN and wasn't impressed, my local regional store only had like 3 brands. We bought our dryer from TGG and they were good, had a warranty issue and it was within the 5 year extra warranty we got with it, and got a new one at 4 years due to a fault that couldn't be repaired. So I am looking at getting an extra extended warranty as well. Wasn't impressed with HN extra warranty option either.

Not looking for an overall Bargain, but want quality and something that will ideally last. We don't mind spending the money. Budget isn't entirely an issue, but not looking at anything over $2k. More in the range of $1,500 max. But again, want quality and last rather than cheaping out.

we are up for another washing machine in about 10 years.

a bit early to post now?

    • I think you misunderstood what I mean.

We are up for another washing machine, after already owning two that have died in the last 10 years.

  • What is the budget?

Ok, I recommend you get a new washing machine.

    • Thanks Muzeeb. What are your thoughts on LG?

Our last 3, over 25 years, have all been F&P.

  • Have you ever weighed a load? 9–12 kg is a massive amount of washing. My first front-loader (Miele) ran faultlessly for 32 years and was likely still repairable, but I splurged on a new/ex-demo one. So arguably expensive initially but I spent nothing on remedial or preventative maintenance. First dryer (condenser) lasted 27 years, confirmed as repairable but Miele suggested I treat myself to a replacement.

  • Are you running a side hustle commercial laundry using a domestic washing machines?

  • The expensive brands are mostly crap these days. People just buy it for the name. I'd get a cheap one such as Haier, had one for 3 years and no issues yet.

    Neg away brand snobs.

  • Keep an eye out for the Samsung Bespoke 12kg. Grabbed the white version on the cheap and it's been super easy to use. Very quiet, good time options etc.

    • Yeah. Also grabbed that model recently on sale at Samsung Edu. Amazing for $775. Still waiting for the matching heat pump dryer to be delivered though.

I recently had the drainage pipe on my Samsung washer repaired (the movers broke it!). The repair guy said I'm lucky my Samsung is still going after 8 years. He said Fisher & Paykel, Bosch or LG are your best bets (not necessarily in that order).

Miele for easily available and good quality

Speed Queen if you want a machine that is built like an absolute tank (but it’s over your budget)

    • Quality as in, they wash better than the other brands ?

      • I have Miele and it’s excellent on gentle cycles. Quality I was referring to build quality for both

      • If you rate the independent testing conducted by Choice, Miele has taken out the Best Brand washing machine prize for six years in a row. The bottom three which rate as do not buy: Haier HWF10AN1, Kogan KATFWASH85B, Haier HWF75AN1

        • I'm not sure about Choice rating anymore, or what kind of experts they run by, I was checking for security cameras, and they rated some uniden app cam solo pano $$$$ over Google cam which is almost $270 cheaper, with four fewer points LOL
