hot take - the earth will be incinerated from cheap lithium batteries in throw away devices in landfill by the time we complete transition to renewables

    • Transition to renewables relies on products having batteries that can be charged

    • +1

Hotter Take - Renewables will need lithium batteries far more than previous electrical technologies so eventually 3rd world countries will have their poor people "lithium mine" old batteries from landfill thus saving us from incineration.

The real threat is everyone dumping their super thin broken samsung tvs into landfill thus hurting the 3rd world workers who prevent world incineration

      • think i made it clear i was talking cheap lithiums in disposable devices

trawling through landfills for discarded batters that've not become unstable enough to catch fire's a very optimistic scenario

vapes are already causing spot fires in landfills allover

        • One mans unstable potential explosive is another mans treasure?

I for one believe that our 3rd world child labour force will be the future saviours of the world

          • @MilkDrinker: they burn fiercely as distinct from explode

            username checks btw

            • @0jay: Burns of patriotism and valor.

              • @MilkDrinker: y reckon we're on track to ship all our landfills offshore?

sounds like a recycling program to me

                • @0jay: A better recycling program than Coles had lol.

A lack of 3rd world labourers in Australia, so we might still be incinerated in the future.

@MilkDrinker: i know you're kidding but the upshot is it's ok for poor coloured folks to do dangerous work cleaning up western consumer's sht. that's a bit wrong, son

th prob wi any recycling program is first folks just throw they sht in the trash and second those programs are often just public relations fronts with very little recycling taking place
