    Does anyone know what ‘bag of gems’ and chest of gems’ IAP are for? And does this game have ads?

    Edit: looks like this game had been free for a long time and only made free again after going back to paid for 14 days, according to appsliced (US date and price I believe) maybe it went f2p with IAPs

      It's not a scam. You aren't expected to purchase the in app stuff. It does depend on the type of game though. If its similar to clash of clans, where the game is free however you can speeden the process through IAP then it's fine by me. If it's like the Mario game on the App store, which has a few levels free and then the rest paid, that's moreso a scam.

      You don't don't need to pay anything at all to finish the game. In game you can buy gems for specials (but you earn gems during gameplay) and more heroes (you have some free ones available). I just finished it without spending anything and I got the full gaming experience

      i've played and enjoyed hours of kingdom rush without spending a cent

      it's def not as bad as something like candy crush

      No not needed but you'll be grinding for 1000s of hours just to be strong enough to beat later levels, which is tedious and pathetic!

      Not needed if you play through on normal difficulty. Some levels are definitely challenging and you’ll need to change your strategy accordingly (eg which towers where and when). And if you hit a level that’s way too hard, you can bump the difficulty down at any time without affecting progress (at least that’s what I remember for all Kingdom Rush games). Obviously you can grind older levels a little if you want to level up and avoid strategising. But if you’re going to do that, you might as well play on a lower difficultly level. It’s still lots of fun!

      Highly recommend this game and the entire series. Also highly recommend playing it on an iPad if you can. Older iPads work too because it’s not a demanding game. The larger screen makes things a lot easier to see when things get hectic. I especially like playing it with a stylus for the ergonomics.

    Does this include all the heroes? The UI is easier to navigate on PC via Steam (and you get all the heros for free - although you pay to get the game)

    Literally yesterday bought the other two games for my iPad at $3 each. Saw the $10 price on this one and instantly knew that there will be a discount soon because they have a new game out soon but free? Yessir

    IAP for this series is usually for different characters with some unique playstyles.

    Otherwise the game itself is completable with the default characters

      Yeah.. it's their gateway drug for the other titles. Goes free every so often. That's how i got hooked. Got the iphone one (when it was free) a while back, then paid for the sequels. Worth. Every. Cent.

    Absolutely love the first few of these games, including this one. Playing for years and years.
    Def don't need to pay… I've clocked all levels, hardest difficulty with 20 stars. Not bragging, just stating you only need to pay if you want to support or mix things up.

    This is my absolute favourite game on my Iphone, for the past 5-10 years and i've purchased every game in this series.
    It's worth every cent and have kept me entertained for hours and hours.

    Just letting you guys know…… THERE'S A NEW GAME COMING OUT - KINGDOM RUSH 5 -ALLIANCE, IS COMING OUT IN THE NEXT MONTH OR SO.

    So excited - it was years since the Kingdom Rush game was released.
