why is this monitor so expensive for a 34" VA?

    • +1

Mini LED and 165hz vs 144hz

Does that mean anything in the real world? I don't know, next gen OLED seems a lot more interesting.

Because it's JB. Mwave had this monitor around $899 in May. It doesn't have enough dimming zones so you are going to notice a lot of ghosting.

      • No, im very picky and i do not see a lot of ghosting. Its a VA panel, ghosting issue is very minimum. I have a Mini-LED IPS monitor with more dimming zones, but ghosting in that one is BAD as hell. In saying that I still prefer IPS as the colour spectrum is way better than VA.

Dimming zones have absolutely nothing to do with ghosting - you could have 1000+ dimming zones and still have ghosting if the response times are sluggish.
The ghosting seems to be quite bad with these response times (10ms without overdrive), or 4ms (acceptable) in overdrive at the cost of inverse ghosting (white trails)

People should have bought 2 months ago. It was going for around $899 at Mwave. There was also an AOC 34" Mini-led IPS going for a similar price at Scorptec and PLE. It was $849.

The JB Price is not a good deal at it's current price for a VA monitor.

I dont think you can get curved and IPS, pretty sure all curved monitor are VA

Can't you got a similar speccd OLED for around this price?

      yes AlienWare AW3423DWF for %1259 (%1170 with 7% edu/tech radar code)

  • Bought one when Mwave had it on sale for $899 and price matched from JB. Despite of having 95% DCI-P3, Colour’s still not good and very washed out

    • 95% DCI-P3 is not good, even the entry level gaming monitors now have 100% DCI-P3 coverage these days. Surprising for a monitor this expensive.
