XTRAPAGES

My Fellow OzBargainers - Ich bin ein Bargainer!

Long time lurker but seldom poster (so please be gentle!) After racking up thousands of digital photos over the past 20+ years of travel, the time has come to get the best of them printed into hard copy.

I like the idea of putting together a photobook for each trip and have been watching the (almost constant) sales through Photobook Australia, Snapfish, Popsa et al. Most of these deals (Valentines, Easter, Mothers Day, EOFY, etc) seem to be 50-75% off the standard photobook charges but often exclude discounts on adding extra pages (or code only reduces extra pages by a maximum of ~40%).

However, Photobook Australia currently offer a code "XTRAPAGES" that allows you to add an unlimited number of additional pages to your project (at no charge!). This is particularly beneficial when putting large photobooks together!

While you need to pay full price (hear me out!) for the standard book, using the XTRAPAGES code for the additional 260 pages saved me ~85% off the standard price ($109 rather than $759). Discounts will obviously vary depending on the dimensions (and number of extra pages added to) your photobook.

Understand that a similar code was offered during Black Friday sales last year but now repeated.

Good luck!

  • Huh never even considered you could order a "photobook".

    • They've been around for years and years - I made my first ones through Apple's programs probably 20 years ago.

Thanks op, perfect timing, i'm putting together a book from my last trip and its at 250 pages:/

Everyone obviously has their own story and preferences and intents but 250 pages is a lot to get through. A professional photographer mate who does these things told me that for most holidays one photo per small event or three photos per longer event is usually what most people find engaging and comfortable to look at. The temptation to document every step is often best avoided - the original library can remain and be pulled out for more intense viewing.

      • It probably depends on whether the photobook is for personal viewing or for others.

Nah the book is just for my me to remember traveling through Europe with my daughter for the first time. I have 4 of my favourite photos in frames hanging on my wall as mementos, i see this as more a personal travel diary / archive for myself, dont plan on breaking this out and showing people. I also work in the creative industry so took a lot of photos of shop signage, logos, architecture, street art etc. Stuff that i love that would be meaningless to most other people.

        • Sounds like a great book. Better than looking on the computer.

  • Looks like it is time to recreate the 1987 A - K Yellowpages.

Like @astrotrain - we are putting some photobooks together just for our own enjoyment and not planning to show others. In our experience, it is much nicer to look at travel photos in hard copy rather than a computer screen (where they have remained largely unseen).

In our case, it was a six month trip around Australia and we took so many photos that I have now filled four photobooks (300 pages each!) and did not want to pay ~$3,000 for them! In time, we will probably pick 5 or 6 of our favourites and get them enlarged/framed to hang on the walls.

Now to start on our European trip photos which have sat (largely unviewed) on an external HDD over the past 20 years….our kids can barely believe how young we look (nor can we!)

I just ordered my first book with them. The best way to make use of it is to max out on the books that allow 300 pages - otherwise the 55% off can work out cheaper.

Their editor is pretty good - I uploaded a bunch of pictures and let it compose 300 pages itself. Looks decent enough!

Voucher is only valid for standard page quality.

I just received my tracking number (ordered it Sunday) and was very surprised it's coming from Kuala Lumpur! Really believed they printed it locally (but now it explains how they can offer this voucher).
