Finally water more expensive than Voss

  • How does this compared to distilled water at $0.25 per 300mL ?

  • Snake oil water

  • +1

This is NOT the drinking spring water

Ingredients: Avène THERMAL SPRING WATER (Avène AQUA) with some Nitrogen

    • +4

So hard to get a good source of nitrogen these days, if only it made up 70% of what we breathe.

  • Do you need to heat it to be thermal water again?

  • -1

    Wtf

  • +3

Hahaha $96.6 a litre when paying RRP. Sucker born every minute.

    Bought 5 thanks….

  • It is one of the naturally Ph
neutral water which was used in
1871 – America discovers the soothing properties of Avène Thermal Spring Water as it is exported across the Atlantic to relieve burns in the victims of the Great Chicago Fire.
    Eczema sufferers may be befitted.
All pressurised containers are claffied as dangerous goods and cant be airfreighted.
    No expiry on this product.
It is very soothing and this is such a good price.

  • Thanks. Great price. My daughter has eczema. It's the only thing that provides instant calming

    • Try QV dude, no way this water is better!

      • Qv is thick, this ain’t

      • Tried everything. Only thing that works

        • Got me into buying one lol

    • +1

      Have you tried facial oils?

    • @singingwolf
I have Ezema too. Can you please tell me how your daughter is it,frequency etc?
Don't suppose you can carry on the car or handbag?
And where do you normally buy it from? I can't rely on Amazon all the time.
All my creams are super expensive, and also thin my skin out :-(
      Thank you.

She is much better these days. We found the cause to be detergents. They are in everything. So had to replace all our soaps, shampoos, laundry detergent, toothpaste, creams. No perfumes. Was a big job initially.

You can buy a small version of this can also for handbag.

Chemist Warehouse, they frequently have discounts in Avène, that’s who Amazon is price matching. When the Chemist Warehouse prices goes back, so does the Amazon AU price.

Yes they sell little travel sizes for your bag/car etc if you want that.

    • Instant calming - Hydrocortisone.

      • +2

Not good at all. Leads to asthma, skin whitening and does address the root cause of the eczema

      • +2

Long term use of steroids permanently thins out the skin. It should be a last resort, not first.

        • Thank you for your concern. I have a sibling who is a dermatologist.

          /s

          • @rumblytangara: Ok so does overly-defensive run in your family? And does your sibling prescribe steroids willy-nilly?
if so… mind name-dropping their clinic so those of us who care can avoid?…

            • @lyl-Lychee: I'll take a personally known, medical expert's opinion over your knee-jerk hysterics any day of the week, thank you.

Sure, long term topical steroid use isn't great, but this stuff is weak as piss and you don't bathe and gargle with it every day.

And does your sibling prescribe steroids willy-nilly?

And in case you didn't know, hydrocortisone is sold OTC for things like insect bites.

If spraying water magically alleviated the symptoms, I would have been doing it for decades. But spraying magical pixie water that costs more than refined hydrocarbons does sweet FA.

              • @rumblytangara: You always that fragile over any basic counterargument to yours?

I'll take a personally known, medical expert's opinion over your knee-jerk hysterics any day of the week, thank you.

Noone's stopping you. Risk eroding your own dermis all you want. I'm sure most mother's (like op) would seek prudent options first.

I said LONG TERM USE. As in, repeatedly reaching for it as a first remedy for every eczema flare-up.
Like, do you reach for bleach first for every stain? Or alcohol for every bad moment?

If spraying water magically alleviated the symptoms, I would have been doing it for decades. But spraying magical pixie water that costs more than refined hydrocarbons does sweet FA.

Despite your knee-jerk assumption I've never tried this product. But I know there's some truth to sulfur/trace minerals in thermal hotspring water that can reduce inflammation, and obviously ymmv. Bad luck it doesn't work for YOUR eczema, but how about you don't instant-dismiss it for those it DOES help?

                • @lyl-Lychee: You keep using that word, but I do not think that it means what you think it means.

I just don't happen to suffer fools and their blanket statements gladly.

  • this is the thing to spray on your face during long flights. comes in the right size to be taken in the plane cabin too (not this one tho, this is too big)

    • +1

Do they allow aerosol sprays on flights now

      • I always have a 50ml in my bag, and have never been stopped.

        • Looks like we got a confession. You're going down terrorist 👮‍♀️

          • +1

@SpainKing: I have also been flying with a knife and a screwdriver for more than a decade. good luck catching me

  • Which thermal spring they source this from

    • Well it’s Avène, so obviously they’re using La Roche Posay thermal spring water.

Pierre Fabre and L’Oréal are actually best friends.

  • +2

So personally I'm very into skincare. I routinely get Botox every 3 months, use prescription retinol (Tretinoin), and use sunscreen religiously as if the sun is the plague and personally I wouldn't use this stuff. I don't wanna judge and maybe I don't understand but this is just mineral water in a can with aerosol, right? Can someone enlighten me pls

    • +3

      use prescription retinol (Tretinoin),

Ive been using tretinoin for over 8 years. It is truely a miracle cream for skin anti aging effects.

You really only need a concentrated Vit C serum or cream as a local antioxidant, a HA (i use marine based) and a good moisturiser. Other than that, if you have more money to spend, a peptide based serum (still going through the batch i of Hylamide SubQ i got for $5 a pop). I add a few drops to the HA to make it a little thicker.

      • What HA do you use? And any particular Hylamide SubQ product? $5 a pop sounds fab

      • Any recommendations on Vit C serums? I want one with a pump (due to its instability with oxygen/light) that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, and also one that isn't a Vit C derivative. Thanks for any advice

      • How often do you use tretinoin, and do you layer/lock it in with moisturizers?

    • +1

Botox/Dysport aside, in terms of topicals obviously nothing compares to a good old tube of Retrieve from Chemist Warehouse, in terms of clinical evidence of anti aging efficiency.

This is just a nice to have. A lot of dermatologists recommend applying moisturisers to damp skin, straight out of the shower. I don’t like doing that though. So instead of splashing my face with cold water from the tap I spritz this on before apply moisturiser. I also spritz it all over my body before slathering myself in retinol moisturiser. It’s got a really fine mist which is great to use. It’s very soothing, especially after shaving if you’re prone to redness.

Avène and La Roche Posay are brands built on putting their thermal spring water in all their products. People would (and apparently still do) travel from all over the world to go to Avene and LRP for treatments in their thermal water (“hydrotherapy”). I don’t know if I believe that doing that is worthwhile, but I know people who have eczema and psoriasis who swear by this stuff. Also people who wear makeup who use it as a setting spray for powder, because it has a really fine mist and there’s nothing harmful in it.

It’s also just nice in hot summer weather. I’ve bought a can or two a year for many years. Always for $9 or $10 though. I’d never pay full price and it’s routinely this price.

      • Mind sharing which retinol moisturiser you're using?

  • -8

This has to be a joke

  • +7

OP, just ignore the nay sayers who will never understand how it is like to live with eczema sufferers and what length we go to help relieving their suffering.
If those think this is just water then leave this deal or close your screen and walk away. I've bought at this price ie $10/300ml multiple times and they're really good at providing quick relief for my son's eczema.
