These are the best IDE to SATA adapters avaliable, it is the best option for the original Xbox.

Supports UDMA5 and possibly UDMA6 and is much faster then the generic adapters and is noticiable.

Has a big benefit for TSOP'd consoles, I grabbed another for the collection to go with my seven consoles.

Lol got a few of these in a draw from year 2000.

Not all adapters work with the Xbox. This one does.

Some of the cheap generic ones can do, I think I went through about 8 or so and ended up with four that worked, of those two eventually died.

They're also less consistent for cloning drives (moreso applies to soft modded consoles).

I can't say that these would be useful for any computer for the most part these days, IDE has been out of date for a long time.

I brought this a few years back when updating my modded Xbox. Worked great.

  • last time i purchased these were ritmo ones from like a decade ago

swear they were like $10 each and bi directional too

    • They probably were, normal pricing on these is typically $40-$50 which is why this is a good deal.

      • fair enough

  • a deal from year 2000?

Startech may not be so cheap compared to aliexpress or whatever but their stuff is great quality. Cheaper to buy one of these in the first place

  • I've built an Unraid server in my circa 2001 gaming case. Could I use this adapter to connect the old IDE DVD burner to the SATA ports?

This is an IDE to SATA not SATA to IDE is my understanding. So it would work if you were connecting a SATA DVD drive to an IDE board but not the other way.

I'd suggest a SATA DVD drive, you can usually pick them up for less then the cost of this adapter brand new and you'd have a new drive with a new laser.

  • I think these are on sale at Brashs.

I'm going to take the first Ansett flight to my local store.

  • I thought this was IDE to SATA. I got it and it actually is opposite. Need to plug a SATA drive into it to allow it to connect to IDE motherboard. I need IDE drive to SATA plug to connect an xbox hdd to my motherboard to get the data off it
