Kindle 4

From what I can gather from a comment in the Kindle thread, the one currently sold at BigW is this one? And I'm thinking it's probably also the one that Dick Smith is currently selling for $119?

Hubby can get one from Amazon, and have it shipped for $101 ….. does anyone know of any better prices?

  • Very interested in this also, looking for 2 before christmas.

  • Check out your local Woolies tobacco counter. I got one for $81 and a leather case for $9

    • Thanks, already tried that though.

  • Not a kindle, but if you have a friend in the USA the Barnes & Noble Nook Touch is reduced to $59 in-store today.

  • I just picked up a Kindle 5 (the latest version recently released from Amazon) via readershop.com.au for A$149 delivered. But what you get for the $149 is the following …

Kindle 5 Graphite Wi-Fi (2012) + Australian Accessories Kit + Special Offers and Screen Savers for $149.00 each

as well you are dealing with a local Aussie seller who will provide service locally if the unit is faulty etc. I ordered it on Monday and it arrived yesterday.

    • There is no benefit in local support with a Kindle. Amazon drop ship them Fedex express from China so they get here in 2-3 days. Their product support is stunning (fedex a free replacement with a coupon to send the defective unit back).

    • Isn't 'special offers' the ad-supported version?

  • Are they still selling Kindles at Safeway? I checked out a store yesterday and the guy said they weren't selling them anymore?

    • Yeh, I think they are long gone now mate, I tried a few and they basically laughed at me.

  • After doing a bit of research Hubby has now decided he wants the touch version. HOWEVER in the process of trying to track down the 4, sent stepdaughter to check out the woolies stores in her area and what she DID find was what I think must have been Kindle 2 (has keyboard and larger screen) for $41. So there are obviously still some good buys to be had at the few stores that do still have them.

    • It seems she MAY have actually managed to score a 3g version of the kindle4 for $55 (last one in the store sorry.) The person who served her told her it has a larger screen, which was a bit confusing ( and may be incorrect) but from the snap she's taken of the box it does appear to be the K4.

      • Count yourself incredibly lucky, I have had about a 1 in 5 success rate of employees that even understand what I am asking for let alone finding one. You may have gotten the last one australia wide.

        • Probably still some to be had in stores located in lower population areas.
