Potentially may be cheaper with Prime Day coming up, just saying.

Hoping there’s a good switch deal for prime day

I wouldn't recommend buying a new Switch right now when the successor to make it obsolete will be here in under 12 months

I've been reading this comment on this site for 3 years now.

Got one for the first time recently, zero regrets. Great console.

My only complaint is the Nintendo tax on games and accessories (like this controller which should be $50) but that's not going to change with a new generation.

          • @caitsith01: Those were 'Switch Pro' rumours and the actual successor has been talked about officially by the CEO on Twitter. About how it WILL be announced in this financial year (I know when that ends, no need to try and tell me)
Dev kits for the successor ARE in the hands of developers.
I love the Switch and am a bit of a Nintendo fanboy but it's seriously best to hold on because a lot of signs and rumours also point to the successor being backwards compatible.

@NitrousOxide: Right, announced "this financial year" so some time in the next 11 months, and then it won't actually launch for a while, then there will be no stock and few games and it'll be stupidly overpriced, then eventually it'll start being games and stock and reasonable deals. So maybe 18-24 months away - you can play a lot of Switch in that time.

              • @caitsith01: Go ahead and buy a Switch now if you want.
I'm just saying the successor will likely be backwards compatible and the Japanese Financial Year ends in March/April or something.
I'm betting the system is out by this time next year.

        • Yes the next unannounced Nintendo console, when it comes out, will render the entire Switch ecosystem and library obsolete, the moment it is released.

          • @Orion au: Obviously I was exaggerating when saying obsolete. You can read the rest of the message.
But the new system likely being backwards compatible and possibly not that much more expensive due to how Nintendo 'price drops' work (or rather don't) is a big factor in making the current ones not worth buying.

Sorry this somehow ruffled everyone's feathers and got heaps of negative votes. I'm just trying to give buying advice.

    • Prime day can sometimes but just disappointing on certain years. So don't count on it

  • Or 85 get a Zelda/splatoon3 version from Amazon Japan via au

    • Link? Edit: found it. Oddly doesn't come up if you search in the general search on Amazon AU.

Westpac bonus cashback at ShopBack tomorrow.

I love mine! So comfortable to hold compare to the joycons. Can wake the switch up anytime I want! Perfection!

    • Yep. Besides the digital shoulder buttons, this is the perfect controller for the pc as well.

      • +1

Truth. I use it more than my Xbox controller. Plus, it has gyro.

    • Perfection would be a headphone jack built into it. At least it'll read Amiibo.

  • Great controller

  • Makes zero sense to have Amazon being the main link given Target is $10 cheaper delivered.
Loyalty cult to Amazon is crazy sometimes, go figure 🤷‍♂️

    • Does it matter?

    • +3

I was thinking about doing that but I had a feeling there would be someone complaining saying “the price is showing $79” without reading the last part when it states new account signup is required. Plus a while back in a different post for a Dualsense there was a person that was annoyed that a post was allowed because the deal required the $10 voucher.

  • Why are these so expensive?

    • Wait till you see the price of the Dualsense Edge

      • You can't even put a price on the Dualsense Firefox.

      • Totally different tier of product.

        • Not saying they're comparable, just that if they're balking at the price of a standard controller, then wait until you see the price of the Edge

    • NFC reader will add at a dollar or two to the cost of making it.

  • 8bitdo ultimate is better right?
